Q: I read you can take bottom off of statue to put gravel, etc in to make it more sturdy. I cannot get bottom off is there a trick?

if you take a flat screwdriver and pry under edge of the plug it should come off.

Q: How to remove the cap on the bottom for sand

You can use a screw driver put the flat head under the edge and pry it up.
