Nice pen, great colour choices.
This pen is lovely to use, and numerous improvements have been made upon the older edition (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Platignum-Studio-No5-Fountain-Ballpen/dp/B004MYA5AU/). The addition of a click lid is very useful, and there are no patches of glue left from manufacture. The nib no longer ejects when trying to insert ink either. The nib, unlike that in the picture, is unmarked. It produces some friction against the page, which is enough to prevent the pen from moving under its own momentum but not so much that it hinders writing. The pen ships with two long cartridges (1 blue, 1 black) but will not take standard cartridges. I have successfully used, as other reviewers have suggested, the Monteverde Mini converter (£1.50 from The Writing Desk at the time of writing) with a Diamine ink. In this configuration, the pen is more than capable of producing a continuous line of consistent thickness in all directions. While it is very light, with the cap on the end, the pen is heavy enough to lever the nib off the page enough for smooth writing. My favourite element, however, is the colour. I haven't seen the lime green barrel available elsewhere and am pretty chuffed with this.

Platignum Studio pen
Nice to see the Platignum back on the market and producing good quality pens. Like the colour of this pen and the balance when writing is very good. The nib is smooth and the ink flow not too sloppy. Overall a good pen to use. Slight worry about obtaining refills as the standard ink cartridge does not appear to fit and there is not an ink convertor available.Would still recommend the pen as a good buy.

Incredible Quality and Value for Money
This fountain pen writes so well you would expect it to cost a lot of money. When you find out it's only £9.99, I bought it on Amazon for £7.99, it's quite a shock. Also it's made of metal instead of the awful lightweight plastic used to make most pens nowadays. It's very good value for money and you will treasure it.

Love it, but it's not lasting long.
This is my second pen. Identical. Actually it's my wife's and she loves it! This time I bought 2 items. The pen writes beautifully, and is pretty, but there is one problem. Or maybe two. First thing is that the pen's cap becomes loose after some time. Completely loose. Cannot be used anymore due to risk of staining everything around. Second thing is that the holding area has some kind of rubber coating which disappears quite quickly. Both drawback shall be easy to fix, right?

dont lose it!! its too expenive to lose!!!!
i love it. it writes beautifully and smoothly, its a lovely colour and it takes normal ink cartridges. but, being me i lost it. so i bought another. and lost that. so i bought one more... and lost it. i gave up because it was costing me a fortune and bought a cheaper one (which i still havent lost yet) so lovely pen but dont give it to someone who loses things a lot because they are too expensive to risk it

Very nice pen, great value
I bought four of these pens for family members for Christmas, and I have used mine frequently over the last 6 months. It is very comfortable to write with, and feels reassuringly heavy and substantial in your hand.

Good pen but a few issues
Platignum Studio pens look really good and the color palette is also unique; it's hard to find such colors from other brands. However you should note that there is no information about the available nib types. I bought 2 pens and one came with a fine nib and the other was medium. Fine nib feels scratchy and a bit difficult to write. I am content with the medium nib.The other issue is the availability of converters. There are no Platignum converters on sale and other standard converters do not fit. Maybe a micro size converter would fit but i gave up after buying 4 different brands. Same thing with the cartridges; waterman cartridges (large) fit, so i refill them with bottled ink.

Fine writing instrument
The weight of the pen is excellent; the ink flows through the nib evenly and consistently. colour is vibrant. cap snaps onto the top of the pen when writing, so as to stay in place. It's nice to have a pen that's classic in style and harkens back to when writing by hand was an art.
