Great remaster of my favorite ABBA album
If I were asked what my favorite ABBA album is, I would say "Voulez-Vous." While I enjoy all of their albums, "Voulez -Vouz" stands out the most for me because of its mix of disco, rock, and pop. It also has a certain sound to it that I like that is different from their other albums, but still clearly ABBA. The album starts off with "As Good as New," which begins with a short string instrumental intro before segueing into a disco beat, with Agnetha singing lead vocal. I remember hearing the first minute or so of this track on a cassette tape when I was a kid, and I enjoyed what I was hearing until the song was interrupted during the chorus because one of my older brothers had recorded over it with something else. I was disappointed, because I loved what I had heard so far and wanted to hear more. Fast forward to my teens when I started to get into ABBA. We had the "Voulez-Vouz" album on vinyl record and when I put it on and heard the title track, I immediately remembered hearing it before. I loved it. I had no idea it was ABBA. It was a pleasant surprise. Every track on here is great. The title track "Voulez - Vous" is also a standout for me, as it's one of my all -time favorites. Other favorites for me on this album include "Angeleyes," "Does Your Mother Know," "If It Wasn't for the Nights," and "Kisses of Fire." Honestly, all the tracks on here are great. There isn't one I skip. I really enjoy Bjorn's vocal on "Does Your Mother Know." He doesn't get enough credit for this I don't think. It's a great track and I think his voice fits it perfectly. I really love the chorus with all four of them singing in unison. I also love how the girls kick off "Angeleyes" with "A - ah ah, A aaah ah ah ah ah ah." It never gets old.The album features four bonus tracks including the full - length version of "Summer Night City," (a shorter version kicked of the "More ABBA Gold" compilation) also a favorite of mine, "Lovelight," "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight), "Dream World" and an extended remix of "Voulez - Vous" for a 1979 promotion in the U.S.The 2010 deluxe edition release includes a DVD which features rare television clips and commercials promoting the album. "ABBA in Switzerland" is a television special made in mid - February 1979 which includes the group performing songs from the album. There is also an interview with Benny & Bjorn on BBC television. These videos are rare and can't be found anywhere else, so get the deluxe edition for exclusive content. The album includes a booklet with pictures and an essay on the making of the album, including information on the bonus tracks and the DVD selections.I bought this CD to replace my copy of an old cassette tape I had recorded from the original vinyl back when I was a teenager. The remastered sound is incredible. So clear and crisp. If you're an ABBA fan and want to get all of their albums, get the deluxe editions. You won't be disappointed.

Their 2nd best album!
I think ABBA has some of the greatest songs. Voulez-Vous shows ABBA on their disco roots. The whole album isn't disco but most of it is. The only thing I wish they did on this new editon of Voulez-Vous album is make "Summer Night City" the long version. The long version is 10 times better. It starts out soft and then goes right into disco. Another thing is that they could have added another song to the album, "Dream World". I think this song could have been a huge single but they didn't even think it was even album material because it didn't even make any light of day until 1994. If I wanted to be even more critical they could have added the long version of "Voulez-Vous" which is about 6 and half minutes at the end of the album. It's CD age, they do have the room to put all these songs on.

Late to the Party
I am a contemporary of ABBA. However, when ABBA were performing and touring, I was too cool for their purely "Pop" music. If you asked me in the late 70's - early 80's, to name an ABBA song, I would have been hard pressed to come up with anything other than "Dancing Queen" or "Fernando". It's not all my fault though - Top 40 radio played very little of their music. Now 30 years later, thanks to the play and movie of Mamma Mia, I have become thoroughly aware of ABBA - finally. But I still feel cheated that I wasn't aware at the time. In 1979 I was living in St. Louis, MO, and although ABBA did not play there, they did play in Chicago, which was close enough to drive. After seeing both the play and the movie, I first bought the ABBA Gold CD. That was a good start as it contains all of their really big hits - many more than I was aware of. But it wasn't enough - I wanted more. This remastered version of their Voulez-Vous album is well worth the price. Not only is the sound great, it has brought me new ABBA music that I never heard before. My new favorite is "The King Has Lost His Crown". I guess there are advantages to being late to the party - what is "old hat" to original fans is all new to me.The DVD includes a television special that ABBA filmed in Switzerland in 1979 that is great. Even though they are lip syncing to a playback of the recording, it is great to see them up close - since I missed the real concert (Darn it).

ABBA Tip Their Hat To The Disco Era.
Along with The Bee Gees,ABBA are probably the only band that added some much needed panache to the questionable world of disco! Certainly the title track & 'Summer Night City' (included here as a bonus track) offer the listener disco with a touch of class.Bjorn has fun singing lead vocals on 'Does Your Mother Know' & 'I Have A Dream' is another highlight. The two standouts for me are 'Chiquitita' with it's multi-layered harmonies & the second bonus track 'Lovelight' (originally released as a b side to 'Chiquitita') with it's splendid chorus. While 'Voulez-Vous' may not have the instant appeal of 'ABBA' or 'Arrival',it does stand the test of time & grows on you after several listens.
