Q: how to you prevent the canopy from sliding right and left?

I do understand the issue. I secured mine with zipties, but what about using fishing line to tether the canopy to the wall?

Q: Is this the actual long stem as pictured or short stem. If its short stem i am not going to spend 30+ when i can order from ikea for 14.99.

No, the picture is misleading. 403.384.05 is the short stem. Wish I had checked on Ikea directly before ordering.

You can use one of these types of things I'm assuming. to be honest, I'm not sure but it is lightweight and I'm sure the command hooks would work fine. It is really an awesome canopy. I have it hooked under the top edge of my cubicle divider with two push pins. The bracket that comes with it has two holes for mounting. I hope this helps.
