Thank you for your interest in Rocky! This style, RKS0227, features 800g of insulation and a Guaranteed Waterproof construction. Both features would be great for the activity you describe. Here's an easy breakdown: Uninsulated to 200 gram: early season, high activity 400 gram to 800 gram: Most Popular. Insulation that cover most fall hunting. 1000 gram and up: Colder, winter weather and more sedentary activities. One side bar issue; when wearing boots with Thinsulate Insulation, do NOT wear cotton socks. Cotton traps the sweat on your foot making your feet wet on the inside. Wet feet equals cold feet no matter how much insulation you have. Wear a wool, synthetic or merino wool sock – these materials will wick the moisture away from your foot keeping your fee dry inside of the boot. Q: Are these good for 30 degree weather? I dont want to sweat but my feet freeze

Thank you for your interest in Rocky Boots. We don’t have a rating system in degrees. Thinsulate works based off movement and the more you move the longer you stay warm. Without moving you will start to feel the cold about 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Insulation only works based on your own body heat. The higher the insulation the longer the warmth will last before you start to feel cold again. This boot has 800 grams of Thinsulate. We hope this helps with your purchase.
