Not fit for purpose
Don’t waste your time or money.... Saved some files to the drive as read previous feedback, seemed ok until you try to view them, not recognised by the pc... re formatted....Tried to install bitlocker onto the drive, it just kept failing .... not taking the risk of putting anything else on...... just wanted to add that Amazon were great, just asked me to send back for a complete refund.

Stopped working less than an hour into use
I connected this to my laptop and started copying documents, nothing complicated, mostly university work and home documents. Within an hour I noticed a beeping noise and the hard drive disconnected from the laptop. Now I can't get it to connect, all I get is the beeping. I can't even return it now because it has documents on it I'd rather not share with strangers and I can't get on it to delete them. Waste of time and money, will spend a bit more on something more reliable.

Excellent HDD and Great Value For Money
Excellent bit of kit, I use it to record and timeshift TV after 2 USB dongles kept letting me down. At this price this is just as cheap an option with far greater storage and 100% better reliability. It's plug and play without any hassle at all. Highly recommended for smart TVs.

Brilliant
Bought this for my Freesat box as it didn't have a hard drive to save recordings. This hard drive is compatible and holds recording very well. Has a decent storage capacity and is really well priced. Would highly recommend. At least for holding recordings. I haven't used it on my computer or anything else though. I am sure it would do just as good job for other purposes.

Larger storage than described, Fairly priced.
Received this today & was well impressed with the simplicity of the item.what most impressed me about this was the larger storage capacity than was described. ( It said the item was 640Gb, however when i checked, it was as near as damn it 700Gb. So an extra 60Gb for no extra cost.) SWEEEEEEEET!!This HDD isn't able to be recorded directly onto unless the device you're plugging it into has record function. I plugged this into my Samsung N7500 curved screen smart TV & I couldn't record anything. I could only use it as a storage device. So, although the add says you can use this to record onto, bear in mind what I've said here. (I'm not saying its a bad item, as its not.) This is a LARGE capacity HDD drive that is good looking, well built, and with an extra bit of storage thrown in all for a ridiculously cheap price. And to top it off, it was delivered earlier than they said it would be.

Very picky about what USB port you use.
My keyboard has a USB pass through port on the back which I use most of the time for flash drives and other things. When I plugged this drive into that USB port it was extremely slow, and by extremely slow I mean it took about half an hour to copy a 1GB folder and once it finished it disconnected itself for a second and then came back to life. So initially I thought the drive was faulty as I have used other external hard drives using my keyboard in the past and never had any issues. My pc has 2 USB ports on the front of the case, one USB 3 and the other regular USB 2. I plugged the drive into the USB 3 port (naturally since its a USB 3 device). I could hear the drive spin up but it didn't even get recognised by windows. I then tried it on the USB 2 port and it worked PERFECTLY. It also works when plugged into a port on my monitor but not on half the ports on my PC. Very strange.Apart from that it seems to be working as expected.

Great for recording Freeview
I bought this so my elderly parents could record Freeview programmes from their TV (their TV offered this feature). It was really easy to use, I just plugged it in (I thought I might have to change the format to "ExFat" but I didn't have to, it worked straight away. I did have the register the hard drive on the TV first which I did by checking the online manual. Unfortunately, it wasn't really what they were after as they couldn't watch one programme whilst recording another.
