Bright, Horrible user interface, setting it up to my camera as a nightmare touch to focus is a whole project just to set up. I’d save your money and go with another brand This is not a good value for my money. Not even bother with the updates the ones I got off their website the monitor will not load

The media could not be loaded. Great monitor, much brighter than the camera back screen. The camera control works so well. I watched a ton of reviews before getting this so kinda knew what to expect but honestly love this thing! Originally, I was looking at the Atmos shinobi II, but the touch focus keep me on this LH7P.

The media could not be loaded. So, I contacted Portkey customer service to help me resolve the problem. I sent them videos and complaints about the fan noise and the monitor temperature, to which they responded that a new firmware update was to resolve the issue; unfortunately, I gave them another video evidence to support that the unit isn’t working correctly, the in-charge person then said that he tested a monitor of a similar model in his hand and found out that it works fine. It makes me upset hearing it; just because what you have in the factory works fine doesn't mean the one I have to do the same. Mass production does not guarantee perfection. lol!There is always room for error, and unfortunately, mine was among the few.So I stopped communicating the guy and would warn you of how terrible the costumer service experience was. I love portkeys but I was dissapointed with this purchase. I normally gave postive feedback but I can’t do it this time, I have spent time giving all my concerns to them yet it seems to me that they don’t care about it at all.

My use case for this monitor is as a focusing and exposure aid for copy work. I keep the monitor permanently mounted on a copy stand that also has a Sony A7R4 and a variety of manual focus Vöigtlander lenses. Copy work is extremely demanding for critical focus and proper exposure to maximize dynamic range. The camera's LCD is inadequate for this work and while this particular camera's viewfinder has extraordinary image quality, it is impossible to use when the camera is mounted on a copy stand. The subject matter ranges from the very small (requiring a 5:1 macro lens), the small ("only" requiring 1:1 macro lens) to traditional artwork (might require a semi-wide 35 mm lens). Critical focus is required for all these subjects, but it is particularly true for macro work. The 7-inch PortKeys screen makes manual focusing and focus-stacking a breeze and the built-in exposure tools (like RGB waveforms) confirm optimal exposure. The 1080p resolution and high refresh rate give a flicker-free image that stands up to even harsh lighting conditions.I have had only one real issue so far, which is a fiddly Sony-NF battery receptacle that at first did not want to accept batteries or dummy batteries due to the position of the male electrodes, but I eventually got it to work. As much as I like this monitor, I do worry about one potential issue, which is the quality of the on-off switch. To be clear, I have had no issues with the switch, but it is made of thin plastic and is nearly flush with the top of the unit, which looks to me to be a potential future failure point. It is for this reason I power the unit on and off by plugging in and unplugging the USB power source to the NP-F dummy battery. Other than that, I would say the quality of the image on the monitor is equal to my Blackmagic Design 7 inch Video Assist 12-G at less than half the cost. Of course, the Blackmagic Design Video Assist is also a terrific video/audio recorder, which accounts for the price difference. If you need a bright super clear 7 inch monitor that is also very light in weight, the PortKeys should be on your short list.In the box there is the monitor, am HDMI cable, a nice metal hot-shoe mount for the monitor and a screen protector. I am not using the screen protector, but it looks to be of good quality. The monitor does come in its own hard-sided travel case, which offers extraordinary protection if you use the monitor in the field. The monitor does have a 24C DC port, but no cable or charger for this is provided, which is why I have been using a dummy battery and a PD USB charger for my use-case where the monitor is permanently mounted on a copy stand.

Love this monitor! Huge 7 inch screen along with it being a 1000nit visibility outside is easy money! But the kicker is having wireless control to my bmpcc4k through the monitor. Portkeys knocked it out of the park with this one!

I wanted to like this, but the short story is this device came up short on delivery. I primarily wanted this for touch focus and shutter/aperture control. 2 of the 3 worked for me, but not in the way I was expecting. The shutter and aperture were set on sliding bars that were very laggy, so setting the correct value on the first attempt was unlikely. The touch focus was non-existent so far as I can tell. I tried navigating the menus to see if I missed something, but came up empty. I tried searching their forums and the user manual, and again absolutely nothing. Their manual only focuses on settings and config for Black Magic, nothing pertaining to Sony at all. So after trying the Portkeys LH5PII and LH7P, I am done. I am just going to save my money and get a quality monitor that is designed to just provide a quality image of what I am trying to shoot. No bells and whistles, just a screen and an image.I would like to point out too, that their menu structure is absolutely horrible. Just a bad design and not intuitive in any way.

Best functionality and remote control via Wi-Fi (Sony a 7iv) for this money!
