I must confess that I didn't get this for a wheelchair --although now that I have it, I would certainly recommend it for that purpose. I used it to replace a wheelbarrow wheel. The principal reason was to get something that wouldn't go flat and this wheel is not inflatable.Now, before anyone objects, I'm fully aware that this wheel is not designed for wheelbarrow use. It won't carry 500 lbs., it will sink into muddy ground, and it doesn't have the same "bounce" as an inflatable tire. However, for any application within the rated weight range, this wheel will provide a smooth, easy-to-roll, experience.The bearings are very good and the materials used appear to be quite sturdy and long lasting. The tire has just enough springiness to cushion the ride but not enough to make a wheelchair hard to push.Just be aware that this wheel requires a 12mm shaft.If you are replacing a wheelchair wheel, consider replacing with a matched pair. This will prevent issues where mismatched wheels make the chair difficult to roll or to keep level.

After wheeling my wife for a short time one wheel became loose, on inspection the bearing had disintegrated and ball bearings had fallen out,the wheels had only been on one hour.
