These are more wonderful than I thought they would be. Very easy to put in the holders. I love the way they work too!

almost all of the chalk broke when trying to put it in the bottom screw part.....after broken the "chalk" falls out if tipped upside down.....very difficult with little ones.........the erasers are nice and the chalk holders work well at least.

My daughter already has a small pack of these chalks, and we love them, so when I saw this set, I jumped at it. More colors are always a good thing, and if we had refills she wouldn't have to be so careful with saving them for her whiteboard and could just use them whenever she wanted.I assumed this was a wholesale class pack of what she already had. When I opened the box, I was in for a surprise. This is indeed 149 piece set - as in it's 149 separate pieces in the box. The chalks come in their own boxes (2 boxes of 36 unique colors each), and then the rest of the large box is full of loose empty plastic tubes. (I'm assuming that somewhere underneath all of that are the included erasers, but I'm not pouring that all out on my floor to find out. We have other erasers.) The quality on those tubes is questionable. Some of them were in multiple pieces (but do stay together when I pushed them together for the most part), and almost all the ones I tested seem to have rough edges where the plastic seeped out of the mold and wasn't trimmed off. Those edges scratch the chalks when they rub and do create chalk dust from these *should be* dust free chalks. So yeah, quality. And the act of assembling 72 separate chalk tubes is a pain, to be honest. I most likely will not do it, and will just assemble whichever specific ones she wants when she wants them, and use the rest as refills for what she already had. (It's 36 individual colors, but a lot of them are very similar to others and not really worth treating as independent colors in my view. This is a chalkboard, not fine art.)All that being said, the chalks do work as intended once you finally get them assembled. Tested on blackboard paint, green slate, and a white dry erase board, all 3 wrote simply and erased cleanly. They are closer in texture to crayons than to traditional chalk, but I expected that, having already owned some, and with a left-handed child, I prefer it greatly. Traditional dusty chalk tends to come off on her hand and erase as fast as she can add it. This stuff stays put where she applied it much better and only comes off when she intentionally erases it. It also is not subject to the dreaded chalk screeching noise we all remember from childhood. The chalks stay in their holders nicely when you get them there - they aren't trying to fall out on me. So they're a decent set, and they do deserve the 4 stars I'm giving them. The only issues are with quality, packaging, and assembly. If you're prepared for what you're getting, they're worth the purchase, but at .40c/each for sticks of chalk, you wouldn't expect to have to assemble them as well.

This is seriously genius I love how mess free this is I hate the feeling of chalk on my hands so I never use it but this doesn’t feel that way at all the colors are pretty and everything was very affordable would be a great gift for an artist or teacher

I love the idea of these, but they are very difficult to get off on a chalkboard wall.

Loved that this was dustless but was disappointed when it wouldn’t erase.
