Q: Can you confirm that the item is 16.93 inches tall? My cabinets sit at exactly 17 inches.

The item is 16&7/8" tall at the center of the back (tallest point). If your upper cabinets are 17" from the top of the counter top, and have a gap of 2-3" between the ice machine and the backsplash, You are good to go! Meaning, If you push the unit all the way against the backsplash (without a 2-3"gap) you will be limiting how far you can open the door to receive ice to about 5&1/2". We really enjoy this Ice Maker.

Q: are you supposed to fill with a certain kind of water?
