Q: Does it fit the T3i kit lens 18-55 f3.5-5.6

The ET-63 lens hood does'nt fit the 18-55mm IS or IS II kit lens. It will however physically be mounted on the new Canon 18-55mm IS STM but you will experience very strong and unacceptable vignetting (dark corners) at 18 and 24mm. This lens hood is 60mm long and is designed for zoom lens like the Canon 55-250mm IS STM. The Canon lens hood designed for your kit lens is the EW-60C and is only 20mm long. Sorry to disappoint you. Q: Why would one pick this hood over the EW-63C for this lens?

Had same quandary, as EW-63C came with my EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens--and it seems to fit on my EF-S 55-250mm IS STM as well. As "Stan" notes in 2015, The EW-63C is a tulip hood intended for a non-turning telephoto lens, like my kit lens. This full coverage ET-63 hood accommodates normal barrel twisting of longer telephoto lens, which a tulip hood won't do. Plus, the ET-63 provides greater hood coverage at the field of view of a long telephoto, which the EW-63C isn't designed to do. HTH

Q: if i add a UV lens will still fit?

I think you mean a UV filter. This is a bayonet fit and does not thread on the lens so that you can use any filter you want. Check the diameter before you buy the filter.
