Green GiantCut Green Beans, 14.5 Ounce Cans (Pack of 4)

This is my first time buying Green Giant green beans, I normally buy another name brand! I will always buy these now, the flavor, the texture is incredible! I used to think that my grandmother made fresh green beans they were so delicious with a homegrown flavor! Until one day in my 40’s I saw her using CANNED green beans! I couldn’t believe it, I was actually a little let down. My Ma Maw’s green beans were from a can! She showed me how she made them and it was so simple! Put a couple cans of green beans plus an extra cup of water, add some butter and salt and “COOK EM HARD!” til the water is cooked off leaving just enough for green beans to have some juice. I have always make them that way, they have been good, but still not like Ma Maws. The green beans have always ended up kind of mushy and ‘scrambled kind of looking, wimpy. I made my Green Giant green beans today as I always do, they had a very different look, still whole and firm so I thought they weren’t going to have the same home grown flavor. At first bite I almost cried (seriously) because the flavor and texture was just like Ma Maw’s green beans. You know how memories of loved ones come flooding back with a simple memory, this did it for me❤️

I always use Green Giant canned cut green beans for the times I make my 4-bean salad. This brand is firmer than others I have used - you don’t want overly soft green beans for a salad. Just wish the yellow wax beans for my recipe were not so elusive - I buy whatever brand I can get. The bean salad goes well as a side dish or added to a tossed green salad with any other add-ins you favor.
