Q: How does this compare to the Huy Fong brand that is so popular?

The tabasco compares to Huy Fong in a few different ways...First, it's not anywhere near as spicy as the popular tuong or the Sriracha sauce.Second, it's really sweet compared to the original.Finally, I personally think the Tabasco Sriracha is better. Tabasco ages their peppers that leads to a much better quality and deeper flavors. You get all of the different notes of the Sriracha. the garlic the peppers and the underlying sweetness.Thanks,Scott A. Draper

Q: Is This a knock off from Huy Fong

No one (American) knows what the original Sriracha from Thailand tastes like, or what it's made of, but according to the people of Thailand who have tasted American Sriracha, it tastes very different, and they hate the American version. In Thailand, it's a milder sauce, not as hot, used for dipping, originally intended for seafood. In the USA we use Sriracha primarily as a spice or condiment, not a dipping sauce. Huy Fong Sriracha is the Sriracha hot sauce Americans know and love. And no, Sriracha is not the name of a Thai pepper. It is the name of the town where it originated. Huy Fong Sriracha is made from Jalapenos. The Sriracha from Thailand is made from prik chi faa peppers. I think it is fair to say, the only knock off is the name, not the product itself. Huy Fong Sriracha is an American original.

The vinegar used in all Tabasco products is derived from GMO-free sugar cane. Xanthan gum is a derivative from sugar fermentation and is used to prevent separation in the product.
