‘Are You Related to Genghis Khan?’
Author Bill O’Neill loves to explore all manner of subjects from reiku to trivia. His previous Book 1 of War Books covered World War II, and that was followed by his controversial Trivia Book on the Vietnam War. Bill O’Neill has authored many books on trivia and random facts and stands as somewhat of an expert in this field! His topics include movies, football, baseball, rock music, simply random trivia facts, and now general knowledge facts (and the fun behind the facts). Or as bill prefers to explain the book, ‘This encyclopedia is crammed full of those small pieces of information that will suddenly make the world seem like a more logical place to live. Covering a wide array of both topics as well as categories, you never know where our book of facts is going to take you next. From fun based ideas to those that are more serious alongside those things that just make you sit up and think ‘wow I never knew that!’ you will ultimately become that person that always seems to have those cool points that they can just throw into any conversation.’Bill’s sense of humor is evident in his Introduction – ‘The world is a fun and interesting place, and you never know the strange facts and theories that you can come across next. That is exactly what this book is all about; from bringing to you some of the most bizarre facts you can ever dream of, to other facts that may make you feel all warm and cuddly inside, to others that stop you in your tracks. No matter if it is the reason as to why Rudolph has a red nose, the explanation of where the word ‘money’ comes from, or even the link between Walt Disney and menstruation.‘Underlining his subtitle of interesting knowledge encyclopedia Bill proceeds to list 1000 fascinating and clever and entertaining and informational tidbits, a few examples of which follow:The male/female equality thing is alive and well with seahorses, as females let the men keep the babies safe, inside HIS stomach. So, That’s Where Duffel Bags Come From?Barbie and Weight Loss AdviceThe Hollywood Sign Never Used to Say ThatNew Yorkers are More Dangerous than SharksWhy St Patrick’s Day is So BoozyFortune Cookies aren’t ChineseHeroin Used to be TrademarkedAnd on and on. Where Bill finds all of these obscure facts is a conundrum, but in our searches for explanation of facts, we simply turn to this terrific book! Grady Harp, January 18

Great fun in reading a wonderful series of fascinating facts
Bill O'Neill is a great writer. He writes clearly and to the point. He is also very knowledgeable. This book of his is amazing. It is his second volume on general subjects. His first volume received great acclaim. This book is filled with many dozens of facts. Lots of them will make readers laugh. Many will be worth remembering and repeating at gatherings, formal and informal. A few examples: where did the word “money” come from, the angel’s share in making good whiskey, and why barbers use a red and white stripped pole.

This is a fabulous read! Full of great thought-provoking facts ... good information to share with family, friends and co-workers! I work a full time job during the day ... which requires brain power and attention to detail ... and this book is a fine example of the type of entertainment and brain feed which I so enjoy! I like to learn new things and Bill O'Neill packs his books with interesting information. GREAT job ... Bill! I have read both of your Knowledge Encyclopedias and I look forward to reading more of your books!

A good mesh of facts
Some are gross, some are happy, some just seem just unbelievable. All in all it is a very good read.

Give it a go, expand your knowledge, and have fun!
I’m not exactly a trivia buff or anything, I just find it interesting learning random things. Instead of just listing random facts, you get the story of how things came about. For instance....what’s the story as to how the term jaywalker cane about? I now know this and it is interesting.
