A Fun Rainy Day Activity
I really can't complain about this dinosaur egg. This is the 2nd one we did, first one from this company. It sat in my car for months and then we finally 'cracked it open'. The little picking tools were fun to use. We got a little dino toy that is small and cheap but keeps the kiddo happy. You should expect a little mess (especially if you exposed the egg to hot-car temps) because there were parts that made little crumbs. We found it easy enough to sweep up afterwards with a little broom and dustpan.

Dual Activity
I would say this is a fairly good product. It was a very quick activity for my ten-year-old, but the kids enjoyed using the remainder of the egg as sidewalk chalk afterwards (I wouldn't have thought of that). I would NOT recommend doing this inside! The dinosaur inside is comparable to others we've had. But, this is not worth the current $7.79USD price in my opinion, even when using leftovers as chalk. I wouldn't pay more then $5 for it, if that--what's inside is worth about $0.50 and the activity of digging it out maybe a couple bucks.

Hours of kid entertainment
We loved this egg! My grand daughter spent hours chipping away at the egg. You will want to set down plastic or have them do it outside since it can get messy. This egg came with a couple of tools and a little brush to get the Dino out. We ended up with a tiny little parasaurolophus. It’s a good size and price. Would make a great gift.

Kid solved this one fast
We've done quite a few of these dino excavation kits now, and this one my kid definitely solved the fastest. I'm not sure if that is because the egg was softer than others we've done, or what, but I was hoping for at least an hours worth of entertainment, and I think we got 20 minutes tops. Also, the dinosaur that was in it was just a very simple figurine, and my kid wasn't as excited as they were about the shark tooth, dino skeleton, etc they've gotten before.Nothing wrong with it, just medicore compared to others we've done.

One of the best fossil dino dig eggs
We've gotten quite a few different versions of these dino eggs and this one is great. The rock was not anywhere near as hard as other brands we've bought. It was easy for the kid to break it open, but we did use a real hammer to make it easier; however, he had already broken a couple huge chunks out using the included tools (he's 3 years old by the way). So that softer rock structure is a huge feature as one other brand I got was literally so hard I had to use a real chisel and hammer to even make a dent. The activity is super fun for kids and gives you a good excuse to allow them to get dirty. I 100% recommend doing this outdoors as it does make quite a mess. Not to mention, banging the egg will make dents in your wood floors, tables etc. The rock also is chalk and can be used for sidewalk drawings, which was a nice little bonus for the kiddos.Lastly, the included dinosaur fossil is a basic plastic skeleton. It's perfect for a kid who loves dinos, but it's nothing special and simply got added into the large collection of plastic dinos we have.

20-30 Minutes
This dino egg is good for about 1/2 hour of entertainment, max. Definitely recommend doing this outdoors for easier clean up. This egg is softer than some others my kids have done and did not need any adult intervention.

Dinosaur inside was broken
My nephew loved escavating the dinosaur but once he was able to make out its head it fell out and detached from the body of the toy. I watched him as he played and this must have been a manufacturing error. Great concept but the toy did not serve its entire purpose

Engaging but messy.
This was a big hit with the kids but less so for me because of how messy it gets. Simple instructions and a nice little tool included to get started with. Depending on how excited they are clay bits can get everywhere. I highly recommend doing this outside and laying down newspapers on the table so you can easily clean up afterwards. The toy was excavated pretty quickly, but the idea of digging around for fossils stuck so that's a new activity to plan around.
