Mostly smells good and fresh, I had a bag once that was damp and smelt a bit earthy, but it dried out once laid on the chicken run, all was well and that is the point of this stuff after all. Its such a good surface for a run because it reduces muddy patches and splatter, especially important for those breeds with fluffy feet. I’ve noticed a marked improvement in the condition of my silkie and pekins. The rest like to scratch around in it. Mine has lasted about a year so far and counting. Big thumbs up.

Bought this to put into my parrots cage. The product was wet on opening and is more suited for outdoorsCertainly not suitable to go in an indoor bird cage.As it was opened we’ve now put it on the garden as mulch.Very dissapointed and won’t be buying again

Bought this to go on the floor of the outside chicken coup, it had got so muddy, and the girls were getting in a awful state, bought 3 bags , and it has done the trick, the floor is not waterlogged, and the girls can still scratch around in it , very pleased

Practically unusuable! It's so wet and soggy, and since it was contained inside TWO bags, I have to assume it was like that when packaged. I'm worried about mould spores so not fit for my chicken run. I wouldn't have given it one star if I'd had the choice. Avoid!

Not quite as described and turned up so wet they had to be dried before use. Not the quality I was expecting.
