I bought the Vantamo Personal Alarm for my step mum, who often walks home from her allotment in the dark, and it’s been a fantastic purchase. The alarm’s extra-loud double speakers ensure it can be heard from a distance, providing a real sense of security. The strobe light is a great added feature, helping to attract attention in an emergency.I especially like that it’s rechargeable and even includes a low battery notice, so there’s no risk of it running out unexpectedly. Double-sided speaker is a good idea, especially as your hand will initially, likely be over one side of the item. The sound is loud & the strobe light bright, though I worry the light might disorientate me as much as an assailant if I ever do need to use it.I bought another alarm from a different manufacturer & the sound of that one is better but the design, warning of low power, long lasting battery life & rechargeable battery makes this one much better in my opinion.

I've never bought personal protection before (stop sniggering, I mean an alarm, not a prophylactic !). So I wasn't sure what to look for. I wanted one that I could recharge, so I didn't have to go hunting around for special CS145 (or whatever the other ones use) batteries, or for it to use AAA batteries that go flat too quickly.I also wanted one that I could attach to a rucksack, and would work if I yanked it off, but wasn't too easy to accidentally trigger.This one fits the bill perfectly. The little pull-tag is attached to the chain, and clicks into the main body really snugly. It takes a little force to pull them apart, but they go together again easily. The shape makes it easy to find the fit and re-connect. But the best part is that it doesn't come off /too/ easily.When you pull it apart, the thing makes an awful screeching alarm sound, and there's a little twinkly LED that flashes on and off.The noise of the thing is immense at close range, and left my ears ringing at arms length. If someone was attacking me, and I clapped this onto their ears, they'd be in serious (and I do mean SERIOUS) pain.The flashy LED might be nice for the night-time, but it all but useless in the day. In a darkened alley it would make it easier for people to spot where you are and come to your aid, though, so that's how I assumed you'd use it. I was surprised when it said it would "disorient" an attacker. mmmm.. maybe if you shoved it right in front of their eyes in a darkened alley, it'd blind them enough for you to insert your foot into their privates and give it toes...All in all, it's a great little device. Works well, makes a lot of noise, and charges quickly.

I previously aquired one of these alarms . The last one I owned was white and became stained due to my own negligence. This time I opted for black. The quality of this product is exellent, and quite durable, with attractive packaging as well. I highly recommend this product..Happy customer .Thank you.

Perfect and very loud

Handy, lovely colour, loud but I wish the top and bottom were connected somehow, then once the danger had passed I could re insert the top and go on my merry way. Currently if I pull out the top that’s hanging on my bag, the alarm is in my hand, but if I drop it then I don’t have an alarm anymore. Maybe that’s what the manufacturer wants so you have to purchase another one.

I like fact that you can store in your pocket without fear that alarm goes off. You have to pull with mild force to sound alarm. Makes you feel more secure
