Works as good as the EXPENSIVE adapter that I had.

USM cable could be a little longer but not really necessary.-Slightly- more difficult connecting the HD/SSD.Good buy. . .

Works Perfectly
This SATA to USB cable worked like a charm! I used it to connect an old hard drive to my laptop and had no issues at all. Plug-and-play with fast data transfer speeds. Super convenient for backups, file recovery, or accessing old drives. Solid build quality too—definitely a great tool to have on hand!

useful for using a hard drive as an extra drive
works well...... however if you want to copy files from that drive if they are password protected in windows you cant you will need to use the usb on the other machine itself......... ad on usb ports don't work for thatagain the adapter works great for what it was designedcheap price too lol

Can't beat it. SmartCTL works with some configuration too.
Super happy with my choice here. These were the cheapest option, and ended up being the best deal. They're JMicron controllers. Not the best, but a good mid tier option. Also means you can run smartctl on the drives. 100% necessary for long term storage. That was my biggest worry as I'm using these for a Pi NAS. If you have a 3D printer and some technical knowledge, these are a great buy. The HDD rack model in my image is on Thingiverse with thing:3664611If you're wondering about the configuration, you have to disable the UAS quirk for these to work with smartctl. On most machines you can disable it in the grub config with GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="usb-storage.quirks=152d:0583:u". On a pi you have to edit /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt and add usb-storage.quirks=152d:0583:u to the end. Use the -d sat flag on smartctl! Ex. sudo smartctl -t short -d sat /dev/sda OR sudo smartctl -a -d sat /dev/sda.Again, super stoked on these little adapters!

Amazingly compact and effective way to get temporary access to a drive.
Plugged in and drive worked immediately. Note drive must be properly formatted for the system accessing it to see files. If it isn't properly partitioned and formatted you can use utilities to reset, partition, and format the drive to make it useable. You could use this to create an external drive but an enclosure would probably be a better idea for long term use. This is probably best to pull old data off and clearing the drive before disposing or selling it.

Works as advertised.
This helped me salvage hundreds of photos I had on a hard drive from an older PC. I just removed the hard drive and connected it via usb to my new PC and had access to all the old files. So glad I bought it!

Does not work with macOS?
Well, I tried all sorts of things to get this adapter to work, but no disk that I tried will mount on my Mac. I have a different unpowered SATA adapter, and I tried it with several 2.5-in drives. All of the 2.5-in drives that I checked will mount using the adapter that I had, but none of them will mount using this device.I looked through the reviews for comments about macOS or mounting issues, but there are no comments related to either of these keywords. At this point, I will assume that this device will not work on a Mac computer, and I will return it as inoperable.
