good little buckets for a very reasonable price.
I'm using these to set up an ongoing rotation of fermented chicken feed. They're just the right size for what I need! They close firmly, and open fairly easy. The vent on top can either have an airlock popped on, if you're going for a real formal ferment, or you can just slap a little bit of micropore tape on there like I do. I'm only doing it for three days, so there's not too much risk of evil getting in there and outcompeting the good stuff.

Great purchase
1st time making home made wine from my peach trees harvest and these buckets worked perfectly. It was easy set up and easy cleaning

Will work
The grommet being drilled so close to the edge ends up making it hard for airlocks to sit up straight. Bucket is pretty much exactly 1 gallon. I do not suggest for first stage. Use after straining out pulp/flowers.

Great for food storage
I am using these for food storage, and they are great. The one-gallon size is very manageable, and it is easy to rotate the food to keep it fresh. I am not a home brewer, so I won't be using these for fermenting anything. Be sure to wash these before using.

Broken lid
Lid of the jar was missing a chunk and will leak out air if used. Since I needed to use it today I can’t even return it so I’m left with only 3 jars to use
