fun to use
The pumping may be hard but, the experience of breathing underwater was amazing and it was very worth it.

SMACO Mini Scuba Tank 0.5L Portable Small Diving Tank
The package I bought only has the tank and regulator, not mask or inflation device. I took a star off because it wouldn't work with the inflation device I already had for a SpareAir cannister. This is great to keep for emergency use on a boat if you need to go down and clear something from the prop or check something out as well as an emergency back up for a scuba diver. Many uses for this if you can manage to fill it easily.

Arrived Faulty
Everything looked great while unpacking and assembling but once we tried pumping up the tank we realized there were several holes in the house that connects pump to tank. Found 4 holes and pretty sure there were more. It’s ridiculous that you spend almost $400 and items come faulty.

Really nice for quick dives.
This is a nice portable system if you want something to carry around in case or emergencies or for small dives. It does come with the regulator included which is nice. The capacity is nowhere near a full tank but this is much easier to bring with. You can fill it at any place that will fill regular sized tanks. You can also fill it from a full sized tank. If you don't have a scuba tank and want to avoid constant trips to have this filled your options are a handpump and a high pressure compressor. SMACO offers both solutions. The hand pump is like a bike style pump. While it will get the job done you will spend a lot more time pumping than you will diving. It is however the cheapest option in the long run. And the most portable since it only requires human power to work. The compressor they offer much more expensive up front but much more convenient as well. It offers 120v and 12v connections so you can power from multiple sources. I opted for having the tank filled at the shop since I don't use it often enough to justify the cost of either pump. Overall you are giving up quite a bit of capacity to regular tank but it is much more convenient for quick dives.

Not a toy - commission safely.
It is not a toy. It needs to be studied carefully so that it is used safely. I have not been able to commission the filling of the tank yet but i am being warned that it takes a great 30min effort. I'm hoping not. I also find the snorkel mechanism for attaching is not the best and the snorkels come off easily while snorkeling.

I am a scuba instructor, and this product can kill you! Please read more below!
Someone has to explain this to those who believe they can buy this and go "explore" the depths. If you do NOT have training as a diver and do NOT understand what an air embolism or an air expansion injury is then do NOT USE THIS TANK! You can severely damage yourself coming up from 6 feet with air expansion. Read below. When a person dives down the air they breathe from a tank is subject to Boyles Law. Boyles Law is simple - it is a gas law that states that the pressure and volume of a gas are inversely proportional at constant temperature and quantity. What does this mean in your language? If you breathe a breath of compressed air at 30 feet for example, it is under a certain amount of pressure that reduces the volume of the breath you took at 30 feet to 1/2 what it would be at the surface. So, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU TOOK THAT BREATH AT 30 FEET AND THEN RAN OUT OF AIR AND THEN SWAM TO THE SURFACE? The volume of the air in your lungs would DOUBLE by the time you reached the surface!! YES, DOUBLE!The air inside your lungs would expand under the reduction of pressure as you surfaced. From DIVER's ALERT NETWORK at the Duke University Medical Center, "If the diver does not exhale during ascent, the lungs will progressively increase in volume until the elastic limit of the alveoli is exceeded and lung injury occurs. This forces gas into one of three locations:1) the space within the chest cavity (pleural space), a condition known as pneumothorax.2) the tissue planes within the lung itself (interstitial space), from where it may travel into the space around the heart, the tissues of the neck and the larynx (mediastinal emphysema); or3) the blood. In this latter condition (arterial gas embolism, or AGE), gas bubbles can then pass from the pulmonary capillaries via the pulmonary veins to the left side of the heart and then to the carotid or basilar arteries (causing cerebral arterial gas embolism, or CAGE).Any of these three can lead to death.Do not buy this product without proper training. It has killed many and it can kill you!

great backup air supply or for quick shallow dives
The SMACO S300 Plus Mini Scuba Tank is a handy tool for shallow water diving or emergencies. It holds 0.5 liters of air, offering about 10 minutes of underwater use. This small tank is perfect for tasks like quick boat cleaning or light exploration. It’s portable and meets DOT standards, so local dive shops can refill it. You can also refill it yourself using a hand pump or air compressor. It works well up to 33 feet deep, but it’s also useful as a backup air supply for deeper dives. Its ease of use makes it great for recreational divers.
