Field Artist 6.5 in. x 6.5 in. Square Watercolor Journal, Hardbound with 80 pgs. 200 GSM, Cold Press Paper

This is not a very good sketchbook if you have experience with other good quality watercolor paper. It crinkles a lot, even if you clip it down, doesn't hold a lot of water very well (even a medium amount). I try to use it as a professional sketchbook for my watercolors and gouaches, but the paper doesn't take the color well either, and ends up pretty splotchy. Only giving it this many stars because its a nice size, I like the smooth feeling of the cover (although it seems to get some stains from liquids for some reason). And the binding has so far stayed intact. Although if you want it to use just for fun and nothing professional I would say go for it.

Love the size, but the paper is very strange, with one side smooth like hot pressed and the other rougher like cold press to rough paper. It is assembled with no consistency in order of pages. That makes it a challenge if doing a two page spread. Would not buy again

I like the book overall but the paper sucks for watercolor, every time it turns out horrible but when i use different paper my paints look great, not sure what it is about this paper but watercolors do not mix well with it. It also starts to pill up pretty quickly if you try to layer. I think I will just use for light washes or gouache.

It’s a sweet, chunky little book with a leatherette padded cover and elastic closure. The pages attractively swell as you fill the book with your sketches. The paper is textured on one side and the vertical lines will appear in the sketch when using a dark hue of paint. Nice sometimes but not always. Also problematic if you want to do a double spread that is the back of one page and front of the other. You can use a good amount of water without the surface crumbling but it the pigment Will was out. All in all I really love the square shape, small size, and the concertina at the end. I have one in each size.

I travel a lot, and this is great to keep in a carry on or purse, for quick artistic release when I feel like painting! The paper quality is great and works well with my travel water color set.

Bought this to do some onsite watercolor painting and it works just fine as long as you don’t use an over saturated brush.Really nice solid cover and sturdy pages. Definitely comparable to the moleskine watercolor sketchbook.

I really liked the sketchbook i love that its a square. First one I’ve had! And it is perfect for an anniversary scrapbook/sketchbook for a loved one.The strap is also a great feature to have. I would definitely buy this product again.

I really wanted to love this sketchbook. It’s a great size, the cover is beautiful and the texture on the paper is great. However, every other spread of two pages is the back side of the watercolor paper and trying to apply paint to it is like putting water and oil together. The water/paint won’t soak in and the final product looks splotchy. At first I thought i had literally gotten oil in my water or brush but then noticed that it was the back of the watercolor paper on both sides of the sketchbook. It would be fine if it were every other page but every other two sheet spread is disjointed (and sometimes it’s not every other, as I only started having this problem a quarter of the way through the book. I don’t know if it’s just mine that’s the problem but I am not happy with this sketchbook.
