3rd Fury
I have liked & used Surefire flashlights for a long time. My first experience with this brand extends back to my military days with the Navy as a small arms specialist. As my headline displays, this is my 3rd fury. With the addition of the intellibeam this Fury gets plenty of use. From closeup to long reach for search & rescue this light makes the grade. I see a lot of comments about not having a proper pouch for carrying. I found this Maxpedition Flashlight Pouch 1" Diameter 5" to work rather well. The flashlight fits perfectly and the belt loop will fit a duty belt. The belt loop is 3”. This is the only thing I don’t like about it because I normally carry it on a regular jeans belt. The only other complaint about this sheath that the Velcro is not as strong as others I’ve used in the past. The stitching and quality meet maxpedition’s quality standards (although made in China). The light itself is amazing. The quality is impeccable & and the throw of the 1500 lumens is an honest 1500, not like Chinese crap that promises to do the same. The light is great & the sheath is one of the best out there.Update: battery failure. Well my Surefire embarrassed me next to China light at work. I work in engineering. Was doing a hvac inspection today at work. The Surefire died unexpectedly. My $10 China light bailed me out. When I got home I plugged in the usb. 10 minutes later both red & green lights were lit at the same time. Battery failure I assume. The battery was not dead, it malfunctioned. The saddest part of this story is my faith in Surefire being the most dependable flashlight is damaged. It was the original battery that came with the light and had about 5 charges on it. Take it for what it’s worth. I’m sure Surefire corporation don’t care.

Sure fire makes the best.
Surefire is by far, the best and most reliable flashlight maker on the market. Used by military and police forces the world over, I own several and recently purchased the Fury, as it offers rechargeable batteries. Using brand new, recyclable lithium batteries gets very expensive quickly. The rechargeable battery is a huge money saver. The simple push button tail cap provides low lumen output, the 1,500 lumen high output is incredibly bright. Highly recommended.

Durable, holds a good charge, does the job well
Been using it on patrol. Very bright, does a great job of illuminating. Solid build, very sturdy. Can knock hard on doors, drop it, etc and it'll take a beating. I like that it only has one brightness setting, I don't have to cycle through strobe and low power settings. Battery is great, I recharge it once a week and it has never even dimmed from low power. That said, it's too bright for some tasks. It gets so hot you can't cover the light with your hand to dim it, even wearing leather tactical gloves. It's blinding inside a vehicle or on a DUI stop. So plan to carry a smaller pen light.

Great flashlight for indoors or cities
I definitely hesitated before buying this. My last Surefire is a Fury from maybe 2010? it's great but definitely not as bright as some of Olights offerings. I'm very glad I made this purchase. The intellibeam feature is phenomenal inside a house. I use this on a daily basis and the stepping feature is perfect for up close or longer distances. It definitely depends on the surface. If it is dark or absorptive the beam will automatically go higher then you'll need versus concrete or white walls that reflect a lot back. If you live in the suburbs or the country, outside this is probably going to be running very high all of the time simply because there's nothing to reflect off of. It's definitely more responsive in a city with buildings, street signs, and walls because of the bounce.Being able to immediately go to high mode with a single click is a great feature for those annoyed with the intellibeam making decisions for them. Finally being able to feed this CR123 or 18650 batteries is a dream. Surefire for the longest time forced us to use CR123. Many of my lights run on 18650 batteries which provide longer run times, more power, and are rechargeable so the cost stays low. I'm glad they finally caught up with the times and gave us this light with the option to run either.

Powerful Light/No Case
This is a real torch, if you're looking for a searchlight, this is it. This light destroys darkness and really lights up the night. I love the "dual fuel" capability and the rechargeable battery. Quality seems to be superb as I would expect from Surefire, but why only four stars overall? OK, I'll tell you. This is an expensive flashlight, this is not a "pocket" flashlight and a belt case should most definitely be included. But no, a case is not included, and worse, there is not one available to purchase. Poor planning Surefire, please let me know when a case for this light is available.

flickers
Bought the light a few months back. The first thing I did was to charge the battery overnight. Put it together; everything works great while in my apartment. Ironically enough, the first day I had it at work in a field site, the power went out, and beings pitch-black turned it on, and it's almost like a strobe but never quite going out (every time I turn it on except in a brightly lit room). This continued until I dropped it, and it landed on the on-off button that stopped working. It would still work if I taped the light end against my boot. So all the above is the about first three months I had it and charged it once more during the time. So I dropped, and the switch stopped working.....about two days into tapping it on my boot when I wanted it to come on, it completely stopped. Pulled the battery out once I got home, and the side with the charging port on it was crushed to the point of closing the recharging port (was normal the last time I had charged it) Dropped in two 123 I had for my other Surefire's and has run no problem, no flickering the on-off button works with no issues. I use it about 3 days a week for about 20 minutes each time. It’s bright enough for me to see my dog running across a tree line at about 75 yards in the pitch black.
