BestMovie Ever Own One!
Best WWII movie ever! It's came from Apple+ Streaming. (They make the film). Now you can own one. This movie is about Tom as a Captain of the patrol ship, his jobs is to seek German subs who tried to sink Allied envoy ships sailing across the Atlanta Ocean before it reached to England. It's full of action pack, hand down. Tom Hank does the best acting he ever did on this war movie! Even my 79 years old wife (and I) love it!

Great old-school war pic
Greyhound is based on a C.S. Forester (of Horatio Hornblower fame) novel called "The Good Shepherd." This movie version is a real throwback to the kind of thrilling warfare movies that were turned out, in the US and the UK, in the 1950's. It doesn't try to update the story for "modern audiences;" it just brings the source material to the big screen, and does so in a resoundingly entertaining way.

A Good World War II movie
One of the more interesting films to come out in the past few years was Greyhound. Based on the C.S. Forrester Novel "The Good Sheppard" the movie depicts the horrific trials which were the result of Naval Combat in the Second World War. The early years of the war, at least for the US, but had already been suffered by the European participants for the three years previous since the war began, were horrific. Britian came close to starving because the U-Boat Wolf Packs were sinking the UK Merchant fleet to oblivion. This movie depicts that fight.Probably the most difficult jobs for a naval commanding officer is the prosecution and destruction of submarine contacts. The target is elusive, can easily hide under the water beneath thermal layers and is only betrayed by the sound of its propellers. The U-boats of the day were very noisy by the standards of today, but the primitive hydrophones and detection gear made for difficulties in the location and tracking of these targets.Tom Hanks presents a script that captures those tense days with all the visceral elements that made up those days. The horrific cold and conditions. Weather which made seas almost impossible to travel and served to hide the U-Boats from prying eyes. It was hard on the ships and the men and the sea is an unforgiving environment where stupidity pays the ultimate penalty and extracts that penalty without mercy.During the Battle of the Atlantic over 7800 ships were sent to the bottom of the ocean with 72,000 sailors and passengers going with them. The U-Boats suffered as well with 28,000 being killed with a 75% casualty rate. It was horrific for all concerned. The film presents the allied side of the conflict, but does this effectively with engaging characters and the kids being placed into situations where weeks before they were college students or working at the odd jobs on the farm. Now they are cold, scared and thrust into situations with imminent death if a mistake is made. In one scene, a sailor passing a report stops to sneeze and almost gets the ship destroyed. The film is filled with scenes of this nature.Tom Hanks has written an effective and engaging script, which depicts the horrors of war with burning ships and men pushed to the limit. It is a thoroughly engaging film which deserves a viewing.

Sea flick. Action.
Just war action after the first little bit with a girlfriend. Good sea/submarine/destroyer. Screen play written by Tom Hanks. He did well with that, and, of course, you know he can act. The character is very competent and thoughtful. Nicely filmed. Good visuals.

General quarters general quarters
Powerful movie the battle scenes are well done....naval jargon is accurate I spent 23 years at sea and this movie depicts antiquated equipment and technology but many things never change...if you have ever been on a ship in the navy..especially on the bridge....you will probably like this film.
