The Perfect Battery Powered Planer
Lightweight and no cord make this a perfect tool for any workshop. Simple blade replacement with no tricky aligning of the cutter blade. Don't let the single blade distract you from purchase as the super sharp blade leaves a perfect finish. Spare blade is stored on tool and takes 1 minute to replace. The triple grooves on the shoe makes for easy beveling. Height adjustment is solid and precise. My only complaint is the included fence is not adjustable as I would like. Like any tool in my workshop, I will make a special jig as needed for projects I work on.

Good purchase
I'm a novice woodworker and new to electric planers. I've used it to plane some clover shaped cedar rounds and some large slab cut-offs of gum tree wood.It took a few passes, some YT vids, to pick up on the technique for using one of these. Once I got in the groove this tool can make some really smooth surfaces I did not expect. Come with an extra blade with storage on board. The ergonomics are great for me and the tool handles very well. Its been an excellent purchase for me for things that are too large to go through my lunchbox planer.

Works great, might need 8ah battery, with the bag, it is very clean.
I just got this thing, and it's quite amazin. I'm super happy with it. Planed some generic 2x4's for a simple shelft and they came out smooth as glass. Took me some time to learn how to use the device, but I'm a happy camper now. Does eat through the 4ah battery, so consider using the 8ah battery. Using my Bosch cordless vacuum, this device produced minimal cleanup. One note though, it's kind of hard to hold down the trigger as you're pushing the device, I wish it had some sort of trigger lock, but I'm also aware that it's a highly dangerous device. Wish it was less fatiguing to hold the trigger while pushing it for a while. I'm not used to doing that. My hand started to cramp up. That's just me though.

Bosch's 18V planer, powerful and capable...
This is Bosch's relatively new 18V planer. It's not an everyday tool for me, but when you need to plane the edge of a door or a flooring transition piece or whatever, it's a great tool to own. Here are a few minor features of this planer:1) The front shoe has grooves cut in it for chamfering edges.2) The trigger guard that must be pressed to permit the trigger switch to operate is reachable from either side.3) The blade change allen wrench is fixed to the back of the planer.4) The planer is significantly lighter than Makita or DeWalt 18V planers, almost two pounds lighter.5) 1.6mm is the deepest cutting depth--and about .03mm the shallowest (below the .05 marking on the front dial). Now two MAJOR features:1) Blades are reversible. You can switch blades around when they get nicked and still have time to order new blades, assuming you don't go right back and nick the fresh edge.2) The planer has a great set of dust ports with two important qualities. First, the ports are round and able to connect directly to a dust bag (included) or your dust extraction system--a feature lacking in Makita's 18V planer. Second, unique to Bosch's planer are dual dust ports on either side of the planer with the ability to press a lever and have the dust port on one side close and the other side open, allowing equal ease of use from either side. This is a fine tool from Bosch. I didn't own a planer before getting this one free via Amazon's Vine program (which provides products needing reviews free to reviewers in return for their reviews) and I probably woudn't have bought one with my own money. I'm not invested in Bosch's cordless tools. Though I own a few excellent older Bosch corded tools, I've put my cordless money primarily on DeWalt, Ridgid secondarily with a few inherited Makitas in addition. I don't know what I'm going to do with this tool. I love my older Bosch tools, especially my corded jigsaw, a beast that I've used for well over thirty years. So I'd like to keep this, but I may eventually sell it to get a DeWalt planer--a lesser planer from what I know of its features, but one that fits my batteries.

Powerful and Bosch quality
When I first opened this, I thought it looked and felt no better than the cheap import one I had a couple years ago. Then I tried it - the quality of the machining and castings were evident - this is MUCH better than the cheap imports. After a couple months use now, everything still works smoothly on this, and it has plenty of power for small jobs like I do with it - planing doors to get a good fit during remodeling. It leaves an excellent finish, and the base has grooves so I can chamfer the door edges like they came from the factory after sizing them to fit.
