I’ve never crocheted before in my life and now I feel very confident that this is a hobby I could continue to learn and have fun with. The videos were well made, the yarn is nice and the mug rug was the perfect beginner project! I love mine!

This was a great little kit and project for a beginner. The videos were very helpful. It was a nice predictable pattern. The kit had enough of the yarn to make 3 coasters.

I have tried and failed to engage with some other "beginner" crochet kits. This was not one of those.The kit is clearly labeled. The yarn is easy to work with (thick, smooth, easy to see the stitches in both video and while trying to do the work). The videos are well-explained, with great angles and commentary to help get even someone with zero crochet knowledge or aptitude stitching.THIS is a total beginner's crochet kit, and I appreciate the heck out of it.

A lot of crochet kits are marketed as being for “absolute beginners,” but are anything but. My first crochet project was making one of those cute amigurumi stuffed animal kits that are so popular. I wouldn’t say I had a bad experience making the cute little critter, but I did have some frustration and problems trying to figure out the instructions in the kit that had to have been written by someone who was definitely not fluent in English and which I had to figure out through a lot of trial and error. This kit is very different - and not just because I’m no longer an “absolute beginner.” First of all, the project really IS perfect for an absolute beginner. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. And, there are instructions for both right-handed and left-handed crocheters. Second, the project consists of everything you need to make two simple “mug rugs,” aka drink coasters. These mug rugs were MUCH simpler (and MUCH faster! ) to make than the amigurumi animal that was my first crochet project. While part of this may have been because this wasn’t my very first crochet project, that definitely wasn’t the whole reason.This really is a user-friendly kit for crocheters at any level. While a pair of gray mug rugs might sound a lot less fun to make than a colorful little amigurumi animal, I definitely think making the mug rugs with this kit is a much easier way to learn to crochet and I wish that I had known about this kit when I was shopping for my first crochet kit. Plus, you will no doubt have a much easier time making a cute little animal as your second crochet project because of your experience with this kit.

This kit is easy to use, even if you have no crochet experience. The kit comes with everything you need, except the pattern for the mug rugs. There is even enough yarn for one or two more mug rugs, if you want to keep making them.When you open the box, you find a QR code that takes you to the landing page for the kit, as well as to a link to download the mug rug pattern. You also are guided to videos that take you through each step of crochet, from making your foundation chain to creating the double crochet stitches. The tutorials are clear and the vibe is cozy. The final video gives you a full walk-through of creating the mig rugs, including how to add the fringe at the end.I found the tutorials easy to follow, and I now have something useful to show for my efforts. I am looking forward to their next project kit.
