GREAT Board For An Economic Price!
I recently was given the opportunity to review the PTL-600, and I have to say that Phenyx Pro continues to amaze me!The pros:- The design. It is SUPER compact and simple to use. It only took me about five minutes to get it set up and running to my requirements for playing music and doing karaoke. It's compact design for a six-channel mixer makes the best use of the space so it doesn't feel too bulky when transporting.- The sliders. They are the exact right size and move in a snug way that prevents over or under adjusting. The spacing also works well to avoid fat-fingering the buttons next to the slides.- The processor. With a number of different options for reverb or echo (and even timing options within some of them), I was able to find a nice effect to use for recording or just singing along to a track. Having the slide for just the effects works well so I can keep the Effects knob on the mic channel in one place.- LEDs with the sliders: When not using the PFL function (which I am also a fan of), this helps me at least keep a high-level look at what is being pushed out of each channel.- Dual Headphone Jacks: This is GENIUS. For when I am doing a live remote podcast, I can run one headphone jack to the table for myself and the cast while having a separate one for the engineer so I don't have to run a splitter or extra long cable back from the table. Having "Phones 2" on the front side of the board also cuts down on the number of wires that can get caught up in slides or knobs while making adjustments.- Bluetooth Capability: Pairing my phone to the board was INCREDIBLY easy, and being able to turn it on or off means I don't have to disconnect it from my phone and then re-connect it when I want to use it again.- Phantom Power BY CHANNEL: This is the biggest thing for me. Using the mic in my home studio or the one I use when I am behind my DJ Booth, being able to isolate Phantom Power to just the channel that needs it is nothing short of AWESOME. This gives me better ownership of the right amount of "oomph" on EVERY channel without compensating. The cons (and I know some of these are nit-picky...that is how good this thing is):- Bluetooth to AUX: In my home studio, I was running Aux 1 to a speaker for when I just want to listen to music. Unfortunately, using my phone to Bluetooth to the board would not go out to the Aux feed. Not sure about the Bus, but I will check that.- No case: Again, I know this is nit-picking, but this is the first product I have gotten from Phenyx Pro that did not have some kind of carrying mechanism for it. Given the price point, I can still get one for less than what I would pay otherwise.- Top Connectors: This is more of a personal preference than anything else, but I have always been a fan of the mic and line connectors on the away-facing side of a board. It's not a deal-killer by ANY stretch of the imagination, but more of an aethetic thing.Overall, I am VERY impressed by the PTL-600 and would HIGHLY recommend it!

Phenyx Pro PTL-600 6-Channel Mixer: Simply stated – Awesome
Looking for a budget-friendly mixer that doesn’t skimp on features? The Phenyx Pro PTL-600 might just be the perfect fit for you. This mixer has a lot to offer for bands, podcasters, and anyone setting up a home studio. My past history has been working with Mackie and Yamaha mixers over the last 20 years.Build and DesignRight out of the box, you’ll notice that the PTL-600 feels solid thanks to its all-metal construction. It’s a bit larger than some other 6-channel mixers, but that extra space is well-used. Plus, it’s light enough to carry around easily, whether you’re heading to a gig or just moving it from room to room. What’s AwesomeSub-Out and Bluetooth: The separate sub-out is a great feature for those bass-heavy setups, and the Bluetooth connectivity makes it super easy to stream music from your phone.USB Recording: While it only records the main output, it’s still handy for capturing rehearsals or quick demos.Built-In Effects: The effects are pretty decent—think delay and reverb—but they can sound a bit digital. Still, they’re fun to play around with!Sound QualityWhen it comes to sound, the PTL-600 does not disappoint. It delivers clear and balanced audio, with responsive preamps that provide enough gain for all your mics and instruments. Whether you’re in the studio or performing live, it holds up well against pricier mixers.Easy to UseThe controls are straightforward, so you won’t be scratching your head trying to figure anything out. Plus, the headphone amp has plenty of power for monitoring your mix.A Few DownsidesThe USB recording feature only captures the main bus, which could be a limitation if you want separate tracks. The effects can come off as a bit too digital for some tastes.Who Should Consider ItThis mixer is ideal for budget-conscious bands, home studios, or anyone looking to start a podcast. It’s versatile enough for various uses without breaking the bank.Final ThoughtsIn summary, the Phenyx Pro PTL-600 is an impressive mixer that offers great features at an affordable price. It’s reliable and flexible, making it a solid choice if you want to elevate your audio setup without spending too much.
