These are quality, packaged well, label is clear and has all the information on it. Sometimes it seems superficial to talk about the label and packaging, but if it's really cheap, imagine what they skimp on that's inside the product. This is well-made and a very straightforward, glycine supplement, no sugar no hyperbolic claims just a very good amino acid.

Very useful, but only occasionally
Child-proof cap with inner seal.I first learned that glycine can improve sleep from a pharmacist. I sometimes have trouble sleeping and was at the pharmacist to pick up a prescription for sleep meds. The pharmacist came over to inquire if I sleep alone, because sleep meds can be dangerous, especially for people who suffer from apnea (I don't). I thought she was very nice to be concerned, and we struck up a conversation.I told her of my discovery of L-theanine to help return to sleep after getting up in the middle of the night (L-theanine is the calming component of green tea). Then she told me of glycine. She said she had the best sleep she'd had in a very long time after taking it the first night, but only the first night -- that great result did not repeat in subsequent nights. She had joined with a friend to order a one pound bulk container from Amazon. When I got home I did the same. and I reacted exactly the same -- the first night was the best night of sleep I'd had in a very long time, but sadly, it didn't seem to have any noticeable effect on subsequent nights.Bulk glycine is very cheap. It looks like, and tastes like standard granulated sugar. 1/4 tsp is about 1000mg -- the standard dose. But bulk glycine is very cumbersome to take -- I put 1/4 tsp on the back of my tongue and take a sip of water to wash it down. It tastes much like doing the same with plain ole sugar, though glycine is not quite as sweet.Glycine is a non-essential amino acid, which means the body can make all it needs. It's the simplest amino acid, a precursor to proteins. I think the way glycine might work in helping sleep is that it is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, meaning that it has a calming effect. But it has a short half-life measured somewhere between 30 minutes and a few hours. It acts quickly so has to be taken immediately before trying to go to sleep. That's why I'm opting for capsules, because I can take them just before I turn the light out. Taking a 1/4 teaspoon of the bulk powder is difficult to do in bed.After getting my first great night of sleep, then no effect after subsequent nights, I stopped taking glycine and forgot about it, until remembering a few months later. I tried it again, and again got a great night's sleep. It seems to be effective only if taken occasionally, which is how I plan to take it.

Two products my PT recommends are NAC and Glycine. He says it is for healthy cell function. I like that it is produced in the USA. It is Non-GMO and is supposed to help you fall asleep. I do not see any changes in my sleep patterns, however.

No Proprietary Mixture, Potent Glycine Supplement
In the modern world, we are all bombarded constantly with blue light and it has, without a doubt, affected everyone's sleep in some way or another. It wasn't that long ago that owning a computer in the first place was a rare thing and it was nearly unheard of for children to have their own; nevertheless, society has been transformed and now, computers audit our screen time and our sleep. In Japan, some people do not even have windows, their huge tv functions as their window and they are bombarded by a constant barrage of signs which nowadays are not lightbulbs or neon but massive LED plates sending blue light in every direction. A researcher in Japan published a series of papers not long ago on the matter and tested the effects of glycine feeding. What he found was that people reported having slept better and more relaxed and awakening with more energy than was normally the case. In another work by the same group, individuals reported falling asleep much faster. From my perspective, that is exactly what we all want to do; we all want to fall asleep faster, sleep better, and wake up feeling well rested and energized and that is what I use glycine supplements for. My standard dose is four grams, in this product that means four capsules, but that might be too much for some and too little for others. The experience for me is wondrous!! I sleep better than I do without, fall asleep faster, and awaken feeling much better than is normally the case and that is saying a lot because I wake up in a good mood and feeling good without glycine, however, WITH glycine, the difference is that I wake up, --guaranteed-- --even if no one can really say that your experience will be EXACTLY the same as mine-- FANTASTIC! It is literally a known fact for me and four grams will do that every time. Four grams, by itself, will not put me to sleep but it will guarantee me a superior night's sleep. Doing without is ok but with is way better. Perhaps, this might not be so important if everyone was getting 8 or 9 hours of sleep every night; however, when all you have is 5 or 6 hours, the glycine makes a very real difference.So why tell you that story? Because, in the world of supplements, you really never know, even if things are much better than they once were. I can attest, without reservations, that what you get from Puregen Labs is pure glycine and that it will have the desired effect on your sleep and help you deal with the barrage of blue light that has invaded your life, our world. Now, I am not a walking RCT but I can say that what I experienced is consistent with the literature and, in particular, with the expected outcome based on the research from Japan. I pair this with a magnesium threonate for the dreaming; the magnesium is all about relaxing the muscles, however, I have both, experienced, and read about the experiences of others using this combination and enjoying vivid and pleasant dreams. Obviously, consult your medical provider with such matters as I did. Taken at night, an excess of glycine promotes the production of GABA which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter and one which people seem to make less of when exposed to blue light --probably explains the trouble sleeping beyond merely the pineal gland and melatonin production; neither not dreaming nor unpleasant dreams make for a good night's sleep. Unlike either, taking glycine, even in extraordinary excess is safe, although, for some, it will cause some stomach discomfort. The reason is that glycine is also an excellent anti acid and it can dramatically change the pH of the stomach when taken in huge excesses (well over 10 grams in one sitting), potentially, even at my daily dose.These are easy to swallow capsules in as much as it is just glycine and the capsules do not have to be that large to contain a gram. However, if you have trouble swallowing capsules, that should not deter you from using this product as glycine is very soluble in water and tastes sweet enough to use instead of sugar. Glycine from Puregen Labs is a safe and effective tool to improve your sleep quality and experience and I wholeheartedly recommend their glycine product.I'd like to make an important point here: It is easy to throw stuff at something and see what sticks and it is easy to throw ingredients into a mixture in vanity quantities. Puregen is not producing anything like that, this product is exactly what it says and provided in an effective dose --even if I prefer a larger one, that is not for everyone to do without consulting their medical provider merely because I do it-- that can be paired with whatever you like secure in the knowledge that at least THIS product is what it claims to be, potent and pure glycine that will help you get a better night's sleep with some trial and error and good sleep hygiene.

Won't buy again
It says it's good for sleep and I've had other brands this brand doesn't help at all ! Not worth the money .
