It's amazing how one man can accomplish so much!This book did a great job of summarizing Spurgeon's life is a clear and relatively concise way. Although dry at times, this book is well worth the read for anyone who is interested in church history.

Read it. You won't be disappointed.

DiPrima is an excellent writer. He is succinct and clear. Most importantly, he has the spiritual benefit of the reader in mind as he draws out lessons and implications from Spurgeon’s life and ministry.I have never read a book about Spurgeon so it was a great introduction.

This book is well-written and interesting. It’s scholarly without being pedantic. I’m shocked a major publishing house didn’t pick up this book. Your time reading this book will be well-rewarded. The book aims not to dig deeper into Spurgeon studies but to organize and make more accessible the work that’s already been done. Bravo!

Many biographies are slow reads, or seem to stretch facts to fit a narrative, it's difficult to accomplish accuracy without sacrificing quality writing.
