Been using this for years now. It lives in the pocket of my chasing brick pouch and it's perfect for plugging in the phone, and sliding them both into a pocket. There's no extra length here. You can use your phone, but only if you're leaning out against the battery.

The cords that came with our cell phones were wearing out. The jacket separated from the connector body and the connection was getting unreliable. These replacements have worked fine. They appear to be more robust than the originals, and are more flexible. I've been leery of fabric cable in the past, but my concern appears unfounded.
