I thought I would try out this harpoon spear but it does not meet my expectations. The extending rod is built fairly solid and the handle is rubberized. The screw-on pronged spear tip is made of stainless steel. This is all good.However, there were no instructions. Mounting the flashlight would seem intuitive but it turns out that you have to mount it on the second extension which is not intuitive because doing this, you cannot fully collapse the rod - seems to defeat the purpose of the collapsible feature. In other words, you have to mount the light (using two hex bolts and two clamps- see photo) and to take it off again, you have to do the reverse. Not particularly convenient for me.There is also a bit of design flaw- the flashlight (see photo) where it is mounted causes a dark shadow in front of the spear.I found the flashlight to be cheaply made. The flashlight itself is made of very thin tubing. Not having the instructions also made it difficult to determine if I am using the correct battery size. The battery well (see photo) is much wider than the diameter of an AA battery. I also tried CR123 but it does not fit. The light works but the batteries rattle using size AA. Also, by not having instructions or markings on the flashlight, I had to give my best guess to ensure the polarity was correct.The last thing that is disappointing has to do with safety. The prongs come with individual plastic tabs for transport as opposed to a single piece to cover the prongs. Because the prong covers are individual, they fall off. Also, when taking the individual prong covers off, you run the risk of stabbing yourself.Overall, I am disappointed in this harpoon spear. It does function but not conveniently. Based on my own experiences, I cannot recommend it.

This is nice and expands exactly as you would hope. I like the size of everything and the fact that you can remove the harpoon spear. This also makes the rod multiuse, as you could affix anything that matches the threading. The harpoon spear is heavy duty and will withstand general use and abuse. The size makes it great to bring along on a hike if needed. Great harpoon rod!

Fish Harpoon SpearThis is a decent fishing spear. It collapses down to a easily carried size, and is easy to extend fairly quickly to full size.I appreciate the additional light which you can mount to the pole. It would be even nicer if it emitted a green light rather than the white light, because a green light is far less likely to spook animals, and it also helps to preserve the night vision of the wielder.When in use the spear's plastic retention clips did give some resulting in the pole sliding back upon itself.
