Dunlop Eddie Van Halen Signature Wah

I have a patent pending Thomas Organ company crybaby waw from the early 70's. It's stood the test of time only needing service twice. It sounds amazing. My son has the Hendrix version which also sounds great. I bought the EVH crybaby because it had good online reviews. I like how it looks and sounds. I like the 2 blue LED lights as you know when it's on.

It came and worked exactly as expected.

This pedal definitely bites on those highs and mid ranges. I use this along with the 5150 EVH overdrive pedal had you can hear that signature Van Halen sound ring out!

So there is no one who is more of an EVH fan then myself. Him and Randy Rhoads were the two instrumental in my guidance towards playing the instrument in the first place. I own a MXR EVHPhase90, Peavey 5150 twin combo amp, Peavey Wolfgang guitar. Eddie's thE inovator. I love anything this man puts out regarding musical equipment, period. However, this was a bit of a disapointment. While the wah is fine, the level is way to high when this pedal comes on, ditto for my EVH Phase 90. Unless you have all other pedals that have a true level adjustment to compensate for this, you will not fine this fun to tweak with. Maybe it's my setup or worse yet ME, I just would have loved to have a level adjsustment from the beginning. It can't be that expenisve to wire in can it?

What's not to like? I read a bunch of mixed reviews and a few things are clear to me: either you do not know how to use a Wah pedal, or got a dud. I have owned a standard Crybaby Wah and loved it, but this does have a wider tonal range due to the modifications. Great tone and stellar paint job. I can see where some people confuse this pedal being defective as mine came a little too loose in the pedal. But it does include the key to tighten and adjust pedal tension and mentions it in the manual. Truth be told, I left it as is and still need to tighten it. But damn, I love this Wah and it will be a mainstay for me. Buy it, it is the best Wah I have owned. Go get it! 5 stars to EVH and Dunlop!

But, I hooked it up through the effects loop and got some really loud high pitch squealing so I decided to run it through the front input, to a smart gate then to my guitar. I'm still getting weird sounds, but not as bad. I can't figure out why. So i disconnected EVERYTHING, ran a cable to the wah then to my guitar. No noise what so ever. Im Playing on a evh5150 III 2X12 so it should work like a gem. Any help would be appreciated.

Things I like:-LED lights letting you know the pedal is on (why don't all wahs have this)?-The pedal looks awesome-Very nice throaty mid sweep.Things I don't like:-Overall tone. I'm not very impressed. I have a Crybaby Classic, Zakk Wylde, and the EVH. Honestly the EVH sounds the worst of the three. This of course is all personal preference. I prefer the sound of the Classic.- the pots. I'm not sure if they put way too much grease on mine or what but it is "too smooth" if there is such a thing. I like some resistance in my wah pedals.Overall it isn't a "bad" pedal. However, I wouldn't purchase it again.

Hervorragend!Ein sehr ausgeglichener Ton und flexibler Ton. Ist das Geld wert. Außerdem lässt es sich auch ohne ein Netzteil spielen. Lediglich eine 9V Batterie wird benötigt.

Excellent Pedal for the more controlled, experienced Wah players.

I used the standard cry baby then the Kirk Hammet special, but this one beats them both, I don't really know i'll ever swap to anything else now.
