This root touch-up pen works fine, but could be better. There are definitely some pros and cons to using it. The pen is easy to use, convenient, portable, and applies the hair color more precisely than the spray-on gray coverage products. Just press the button, and a little bit of the hair coloring squeezes into the brush. Then apply it to your gray hair. The negatives are that the pen hair coloring takes time to dry, can be very time consuming to use, can be a bit thick on the hairs, and it can get on to your scalp. I think there is a definite learning curve to using this root touch-up pen. Practice makes perfect. If you are in between hair colorings, this root touch-up pen can help provide a little bit of gray hair coverage. I like this brand and use their hair dye. Compared to other more natural coloring methods, this has been the simplest I have found and my hair loves it. I do need help covering the grey roots as my hair grows so thought I would try this. From other reviews, I thought it would be messy and difficult to use. BUT IT IS NOT. Read the instructions. I put on a plastic glove on my left hand, keep the pen tip facing up, and push a bit of liquid into it. I then rub the brush around in my gloved hand and apply the brush to the parts of my hair I want to cover the grey. I don't worry about touching my scalp or not. The hair stays natural (not stiff like powders I have used) and covers the grey. If you are expecting a salon full color coverage, I don't think this is going to be for you. But it covers what I need it to until I do my next full dye job. I really like this product.

This is at best ok. I really was not impressed at first because it didn’t work by the instructions. Somehow the brush was never able to get any fluid, I had to take it apart and try to manipulate the spring. So, as is it was a flop. The color looks ok once it was used with another brush but it was to hard to try and make adjustment because it it would not work properly.

For the most part, I really like this root cover up. It comes in a convenient applicator and has an attached brush for blending the product into the hair. Once applied, the color is a perfect match for my hair and it looks so natural! Once applied, the color seems to last for quite a while, usually until I do my nightly hair-care routine as that involves lots of oils and hair brushing…. Not many non-permanent hair products can last through all of that!! My only complaint-adjacent feelings about this product is that its kind of too wet upon application. Once blended, I have to wait a few minutes to let it dry so that I don’t end up with the color staining everything I touch. I guess I just have to remember to be careful until it dries. Aside from that, I have no concerns with this hair dye. But because it is necessary to wait for this to dry, I am only giving it 4 stars.
