Permatex81781 Ultra Series Vinyl & Repair Solution, Complete professional Kit including heat tool & colour matching chart to help make pro-style repairs

I live in the UK and ordered this product. It came with an electric heating tool (to cure the Vinyl, looks like a solder iron with a flat tip). This is basically a US product and is only compatible with 110V supply and came with a US plug. When I plugged into the UK power outlet (via a proper adaptor), the heater crackled, overheated and burnt out. It is actually dangerous.I gave 3 stars because, the vinyl compounds are excellent though and Permatex is a great product. Make sure you buy the product, that comes with a non-electric heat transfer tool. I returned the produst and bought another Permatex product (same compounds, but comes with a non- electric heat transfer tool) I used the product and very happy with the results. See the picture. It is also a few £ cheaper. I'll give 5 stars for that product.

Firstly the results are excellent, very impressed with the outcome. But, the heating iron on the one I bought was American (ie, 120v), therefore it overheated when I started using it. Easy fix just put the tip in a normal soldering iron and it works perfectly. 👍 👍 👍

I bought this kit to repair minor rips in a couple of motorcycle seats. It was easy to mix the color I needed. Read the directions carefully, and it will tell you all you need to know. You may need more than one round with the color layer, and be sure not to remove the texture paper until the vinyl is completely cool. There are also YouTube videos about how to do this. Anyway, my results were very good, nearly invisible. Definitely a great price for two repairs, and including a basic heat tool was very helpful.

I had previously bought the basic kit to repair some pet damage and it worked great, I used up most of the repair materials on this first project which required the use of an iron to heat up a tool to add the finishing touches to the repair. I was never sure if I had the thing hot enough.When I had another repair to do I decided it was worth the small extra cost to get the "Ultra" kit with its electric heat gizmo. This extra feature is what makes this a 5 star product. Now all the pet damage has been repaired. I got rid of the pet but was able to keep my sofas.

I've had two of these. They come with a plug-in heater and without. Without you are expected to hold an iron to a plate on the end of a stick, let it get hot, and use it to cure the stuff. This process became horribly tedious and took an hour. In the end there was no texture on my repair. Even worse, realizing that the plate wasn't holding heat, I used the iron directly. I burned some adjacent vinyl.Only buy the version with the plug-in heater. It's nothing special, but with it you can follow the instructions and produce a decent repair in 10 minutes. My repairs are obvious, functional, but obvious, and they hold the driver's seat in my 2017 outback intact and no further damage has occurred in the area.In short - great product if you get the tool. Otherwise, you will feel like a tool.

Not bad but not great. If you have a standard color to repair it would be better. I have a sofa of a unusual color so it was very hard to match.
