No. We set it every time. Low, Medium, or high

The primary place I use mine is in bed, and it is great. If your question is could you put it under the fitted sheet and still use it, I would say no, the pocket for your feet is very nice thick material, I don’t know how well you would feel the warmth with your feet on it, instead of in it.

It doesn't say anything about using it between sheets/blankets that I can find and since there is no auto shut off you would need to watch it closely the first time. I would try it during the day sometime when you're awake to keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

Q: How do l detach cord for laundering!

Instructions are on a large piece of fabric attached to the foot warmer. You detach the plug however, there will still be a large "connector" plug that apparently you run with the foot warmer thru the washer and dryer. Details as printed on the large piece of material attached to the product.
