Great knife block, BUT WATCH OUT FOR FAKES AND KNOCKOFFS !!!!!
Just received mine, and love it. I have owned several real Wustof knife blocks in the past (currently own 2 others) so I knew what to expect. And I got what I expected .... good quality wood, deep brown coloration of the wood with variegated wood colors and textures, clean cuts throughout with smooth internal knife channels, good and durable surface finish, a solid "Wusthof" plaque permanently glued onto the front of the block, and a real Wusthof box with a sealing tape with logo on the opening flat. In other words, the real deal. That being said, I am seeing reviews from other purchasers that tells me that Amazon has been selling cheap fake knockoffs. There is even a different listing for the knockoff product on Amazon (ASIN = B01KK7UWGE ) that sells for more than the real thing ..... which is ridiculous. And the knockoff is poor quality, with poorly cut wood, uneven and ripped out internal knife channels, a peeloff "Wustof" sticker instead of a glued on plaque, and a poor external finish.Buyer beware. But the real thing is a real keeper. The knockoff is expensive trash, and not worth the money you would pay for it.

Would recommend!
This is a beautiful, functional block. I docked one star for some sloppiness in small detail work. For the price, there should be no details left unfinished. I had issues with the label - it was applied slightly crooked. After further inspection, I realized the label was a sticker and peeled it off (without damaging the finish). I thought it looked cheap anyway. The kitchen sheer slot was not cut evenly, but this isn’t a problem since I have sheers to fit the space. There is a large chunk of wood missing in the interior of one of the large knife slots (pictured), but this is not noticeable even if the slot is empty. This is nit picky, but for the price, wusthof should pay attention to detail. Over all I would highly recommend! It fits two 8 inch chef knives and a 10” steel rod. It looks very pretty and the acacia is stunning! Measurements are 12” deep, 9.5” tall, and 6.5” wide

Scratches My Knives
I have owned this knife rack for about 20 months, and have noticed that many (but not all) of my Wusthof and Henckels knives now have very visible longitudinal scratches in them, from inserting and removing the knives. Some of the slots appear to have an abrasive surface. My smaller, older rack never scratched my knives.

Knife slits go all the way through
This works perfectly for my needs: it holds all my knives. I have a chef's, two bread knives, honing steel, steak knives, kitchen shears, paring, petty, santoku and still have the widest slot available for a nakiri. Many people have complained about the 'cheap' metal sticker with the brand name -- I don't think it looks especially cheap, and more importantly, it is small and unobtrusive. I don't especially want to advertise brands to myself in my own kitchen so I am happy I got this one. I'm glad I noticed before I stored my long knives that the slits go through to the bottom -- I was careful not to drop in my knife and have it hit my countertop and dull the tip. My solution is to lay a small sheet of cork contact 'paper' into the bottom of a small bamboo box/tray. A rectangular piece of thicker cork or felt or similar would do the same job.

Good Quality
After about 20 years of use our knife block was becoming an eyesore. Choosing a new one was surprisingly difficult since the reviews for various blocks are full of negatives. Also, we only wanted two more slots than we had and didn't want a medieval armory on the counter. Unfortunately no such block exists so we ended up with nine more slots. Overall I am happy with this Wüsthof product. It seems pretty well made: the slots are straight with well-finished edges and interior surfaces; the acacia wood has good grain variation with a nice satin finish; and the logo is understated. I was expecting to remove the plasticky logo shown in Amazon’s photos, but the metallic one on the block received is so unobtrusive I will leave it. A plus to the larger size is that there is a perfectly sized slot for each knife I own, and it’s nice having a bit more space between them. Also, the slots are wide enough to accommodate thicker blades without possibly scratching them.An important step with all blocks is to clean the slots. I have included photos showing how I did this. I used an old wire hanger, and clean rags cut into strips according to slot size. I only used water, drawing heavily dampened strips through each slot until they came out clean. You could probably use strips saturated with a mild cleaner, followed by dampened strips without cleaner. I then let the block dry out and repeated the strip/slot method with strips and kitchen-grade mineral oil. I pulled the strips from top through to the bottom, being careful not to mar the edges of the slots with the hanger.

Poor quality control.
I wanted to like this item, the color of the wood is nice, but the cutouts for the knife were sloppy. QC is a big issue. Inside the channels the wood is very rough which could potentially scratch the knives, and the cutouts on the front of the blocks were beer uneven. For the price of the block I expected much better. The seller shipped me a replacement and it still had the same issues. Need to find something else!

A stunning knife block, that fits my husband's chef knives.
This is a beautiful acacia wood knife block. It arrived with the slightest minor scratches, even though it arrived shrink wrapped in plastic. They are so minor that my husband rubbed olive oil on them and they disappeared. All of his professional chef knives fit perfectly, including our 8 steak knives. They have 6 steak knife slots, but we also used two of the three small slots above them for the other two steak knives and the third slot above for a cake tester. It has a much lower profile than our older knife block this is replacing. This will be the last knife block we ever buy. It is beautiful enough to hand down for generations to come. Very high end looking and each slot perfect for my husband's set of knives.

Worth the search but poor service from Lions Home
Have been looking for an empty wood knife block for months. Needed to have enough slots wide enough to take all sizes of knife and also enough slots in total. Had returned one because too small. Tried to get info from Lionshome about slot widths but no response to several messages which was frustrating and disappointing. Did not want to have to return it overseas. Eventually spotted a review that detailed the sizes that was very helpful. Would be good if these were in the product description. All these points have reduced my score because the quality and appearance are good - unlike one review suggests. However it does jut out quite a long way on to work surface to allow access. That is not a problem for me but might be for others.

Solid block, does the job
Solid, reasonable price and does the job. Only downside is knives can stick out if the bottom and come into contact if surface.

Great Block
Excellent block , solid wood, stained black. Packaged in a wusthof box then packaged in an amazon box. arrived on time. liked it better than the henkels one which i returned. easily fits my chefs knife and full size santoku, lots of space between knives. Doesnt fit my henkels scissors though, the scissors have these plastic caps that are too fat to fit in the slot, for .5 mm they would fit. Didnt dock a star for that since they are a different brand, and most scissors are not that fat.

Well designed
The appearance and design is perfect for our use. Well finished. My negative is that I was unable to find any markings on the block or the box saying where it was made. I went on to the Wusthof site and it took a while to find information stating that the block is designed in Germany, but sadly it is made in China.

Good
I have been a big fan of Wusthof knives for decades. I finally purchased this knife block and am happy with it. It’s sturdy and seems to be good quality. Not sure it’s worth the price but ultimately are paying for the name.
