Both Capable/Smart and Able to Control Amps, Excellent Clamps with Heavy Gauge Wire
I've reviewed and tested a number of battery chargers for use with standard car batteries and gel/Lithium batteries. This one beats them all in the sub $100 price range. The display actually shows useful data like current charge voltage and amps, as well as correctly detected the battery type. And, the clamps are excellent given they have soldered connects with a jumper to the other side of the clamp. Not just a single crimp connection (which with time can develop a high-resistance point and get hot,) but soldered electrical contacts. I've experienced the crimp-type electrical connection getting so hot it burned my fingers (on that unit, I then remade the crimp connection and soldered them.)Well worth the price!

Great device for the budget friendly mind.
It’s smaller than it appears in the pictures and has a somewhat toy-like appearance. That being said, I’m happy with the purchase; it does perform as described. It’s easy to use and intuitive, though the instructions in the small fold-out manual are not laid out well, but enough to get you up and running, and the auto features work very well. It really is just connect the clamps to your battery terminals, red to hot and black to ground, plug the machine in to a standard AC power outlet, set the voltage for 6V or 12V, wait about 30 seconds, and the auto charger features take over from there. It does a comprehensive job of analyzing, preparing, conditioning, and charging. It shuts off automatically when the battery is fully charged and will not overcharge the battery. Set it up, turn it on, walk away, and return later. It is kind of a fire-and-forget-it device. I’ve used it on several batteries already, and it’s a little champ!

The perfect charger for my uses
I bought this to replace a very old charger with no intelligence. While the old would charge battery's it would just keep charging them and not stop when the battery was full. So with this charger I can just leave the charger running and not worry about overcharging. The auto amp mode is nice as it will decide how much current it will use.It is a nice compact size and very light and pretty quiet compared to my old one would would loudly hum while charging. This one is so quiet that once it finishes charging the display goes off but then it enters pulse maintenance mode where is charges as needed which is great. It is not off just quietly monitoring and charging the battery. It is also about half the size of my old charger and weighs nothing. It has Velcro to keep the charging cables tied up when not in use.Clamp are not weak and appear well made and makes a good solid connection to the battery terminals.About the only thing I can say is once it goes into charge maintenance known as pulse it will not notice the battery is dropping in voltage. Say you want to run your vehicle in accessory mode to say use the wifi in the vehicle. Your battery will get drained till dead as it will be in maintenance mode which will only keep it topped off and not charge the battery so accessory will use more current then can be made up for.

This thing is a amazing! I saved the cost of the charger the first time I used it.
I ordered this a month ago with a specific battery problem in mind. I chose this one because of it's advanced reconditioning mode. If you've studied up on batteries at all, there is a process called sulfation that ends the lives of a lot of batteries. This reconditioning mode promises to reverse that. The battery I ordered it for is a big truck battery and this tool cost exactly half of what they battery cost, so I figured I've give it a try (I needed a decent battery charger anyway so it was not much of a gamble if it worked at all)The battery is question was in a junk vehicle that had only been jump started once in the last six months. The battery was bad enough that it wouldn't stay running unless you left the jumping battery attached and leaving it on the charger long term left it totally dead still. It was so bad, this unit didn't even recognize that a battery was attached when I hooked it up! So i hooked the battery to a jump box for about 10 minutes so that it had enough voltage to seem like a battery and then moved it over to this charger and started the reconditioning process. This is a long process and I left it sit for a day to do it's thing. I stuck it back in the truck and it fired up immediately like a good battery should. I let it sit first for a week and started it up again fine and then for 3 weeks and just started it yesterday. The fix is real. This battery is perfectly good now. The temperatures here have been in the 90's too so it's not being babied while it's sitting.I would definitely get one of these if you are a do it yourself type person at all. I saved the cost of this device on the first battery I tried it on. I'm going to hook it up to our little camper and try the maintainer mode next to make sure the battery is ready to go.
