I bought this for my daughter who just loves medieval stuff, including wizards & such. When it arrived, I was so impressed that I bought one myself. I plan to use mine as a Halloween prop. I paid $116.00 for mine, and it's the fall of 2024. Right now, you won't find a better deal for the money. Now, you have to know that this is glass, but an actual quartz crystal ball of this size and quality (I have one) is anywhere from $1000.00 to $1500.00. Because of it's value, I would never put my real one in a Halloween display. However, this glass one will not work for metaphysical, ethereal, or spiritual purposes. Seriously this is the coolest thing I’ve ever gotten on Amazon. Don’t know if it works (I haven’t tried to read any fortunes), but who cares? It’s just too cool to look at.

It's beautiful, and well worth the money; Shipping was lightning fast as well. It forever to find a really nice stand to accommodate this item. If you're looking for something really spectacular, you'll need to search for a "bowl stand". There are mfg's. that make stands that house art glass bowls. I also looked through brass lamp bases - many lamps styles of the 40's and 50's had base housing units that are really ornate brass. You'll have to get creative and think outside the "ball" if you're looking for that extra special base. Most crystal ball stands are not designed to accommodate a large ball of this size and caliber, and many have sharp edges that can scratch the crystal.I'm attaching a picture of the item I found - the picture is so small (sorry!). The crystal bowl itself is 9" across, and I emailed the seller to get very specific measurements about the height of the stand as well as the opening. The base is about 6" across so that helps to distribute the heavy weight.The opening in the stand should measure approx. 3.5" to 4" in diameter. Anything larger, the ball will sit down too low and you'll lose the bottom of the ball. A 2-3" opening in the stand isn't big enough, and this ball will get tippy as it more "balanced" on the stand. It really needs to rest without being tippy or sinking down too low. Also, watch your height!! Many ball stands sit up high - that is a huge no-no with this crystal ball. Short works best - you don't want 25-30 lbs. teetering on a 2" opening, 6" high.
