Ghost Pepper - Bhut Jolokia - Powder - 7.5 Oz

I normally grow my own bhut jolokias from seeds I get from NMSU Chile Pepper Institute. First I cut the peppers in half and let them sit on the dehydrator, then put them through a dedicated coffee grinder to powder them. However, last year (2017) I bought plants locally and the ghost peppers from these plants were less spicy than a jalapeno. Fortunately I made a huge batch in 2016 that lasted me until about May of 2018... when tragically, I ran out of powder.After reading the reviews, I finally decided to give this product a try to hold me over until my 2018 harvest. So first is the taste... It's good, has that delicious bhut jolokia flavor. Perhaps not quite as robust as my own powder, and I do get a hint of smokey flavor in there, but it's only slight. The powder is definitely hot, but I find myself using double what I would normally use from my home made stuff.Fortunately I've started processing my 2018 harvest, but I'll be finishing this product before getting into my new batch. I would definitely recommend this to hold yourself over. If you don't grow your own, this product is as close as you're going to get to doing it yourself. I've tried a few other commercially available powders, and this has the best taste, heat and price... even at $33/7.5oz. I'd probably have to buy 5 of these per year, which would get a little pricey for me, but thankfully I can fill about a half gallon container full of powder from a harvest and seeds only cost $10. Kudos to the Sonoran Spice Co. on an excellent product.

Good LORD man, Sonora Spice is delivering some of the hottest, purest ghost pepper powder ever!I'm a heat guy, LOVE the heat!! I also have a super palate and do not like the smoked powders, it overwhelms, and I do not like fillers and flow agents, which is why I bought this pure, unsmoked ghost chili powder.I received my 7oz container today, took the TINIEST bit of the powder, almost unseeable, and dabbed my tongue. Nothing for the first 3-5 seconds....then the ghost made himself known, the heat kicked in, my nose started running, and the heat didn't stop!This is absolutely the BEST ghost chili powder out there!! I recieved the peppers within a few days after placing the order even though i used regular shipping. The powder itself came fully sealed plus included 2 bonus whole ghost peppers as a gift. I am a pepper head and i can tell you that this is about as good as a ghost pepper gets. The ground powder seems to be nothing but the jolokia pepper grounded up. It is a wonderfull buy, i chose the 8oz because i was skeptical of the quality, but not anymore. My next shipment will definetly be a full 16oz. Only downside i found to this purchase was that being an independent store there is an actual shipping fee instead of the amazon free shipping, but that is of no significance overall of how good the actuall produc is.

I had such a friggin hard time finding bhut jolokia powder on the net, which my brother and I started using on our Chili spice-off days for it's incredible heat and delicious smoky flavor. I even tried getting some from its mother land when my wife and I went to India. No luck.Of course Amazon would wind up being the solution.Sonorian Spice company isn't messing around. This is the real deal. That said, BE CAREFUL WITH THIS S***. This isn't Cayenne or Chili powder or anything you've ever tried before. Before buying this I recommend looking up the Scoville heat measurement scale. Look up the Bhut Jolokia pepper. See it all the way up there? Way, way, way up there? Yeah.If you can handle the heat, this product makes a fantastic cooking spice. I don't recommend it as a condomint because the taste is too raw but, when cooked into a dish, it adds a delightful smoky flavor and a 737 sized kick of heat.One tiny flaw - there are a few tiny, tiny stems in the jar. Not even remotely a big deal.

Just got this today...LOVE it. It took me a long time to order it, despite it being in my wish list, because it seemed bizarre to me to pay so much for spicy, but, okay, now I get it. First taste is a tangy hot and then quickly heats up, rather like a radiant heater coming, hits its max and then slowly recedes. Great taste, nice heat - without completely obliterating the taste of the food it's on. I bought a hot Habanero powder before but just don't like the flavor as much. This is fantastic. Now I'll have to try the Trinidad and the Carolina Reaper.

Ordered and received the Ghost Pepper 8 oz.containerwithin 3-4 days. The quality was excellent, and the heatwas less than the Butch T. Scorpio I had tried the week before.This was as I expected, an desired, as the Butch T. only hasheat but no taste. I've been a pepper head for 40+ years anbelieve this is the highest quality ground pepper I have everpurchased.For the reviewer that believes the powder had filler in it I say BULL.If you put a spoonful of this stuff in your mouth, and didn't think itwas hot I have my doubts of the validity of your statement. One tsp. isthe same as 6 of the dried whole peppers that accompanied the 8 oz.container.I have been blending pepper mix's for years and will use this to make myDragon's Breath, which my friends love. I plan on ordering more items andrecommending you to all my friends.

Not very good - and not what I was expecting.

Its spicy, but does not seem to be as spicy as a fresh pepper. Nice addition to kitchen spices.The product was delivered quickly with out issue and I am happy with it.
