Uboxes Smart Moving Tape (1-Bedroom)

After 20 years in a house,,,things can PILE UP. But, getting rid of a lot of those things, only to try and replace them, was not the best of ideas, and, packing them up to take with us, was our only option. Having this kit of tape, proved to be indispensable for the move. As an extra help for ease when we arrive at our new home, I had a "moving book" made up of things to take care of, and placed a section of this tape, onto a page, with each room labeled according to color (we didn't have four bedrooms, but we did have other rooms that needed identifying - like our office, garage and attic). Now , when we get to our new home, we know exactly where each box goes, for each room. We made sure that we had tape gun for it as well. Keeping it in a small box, with the different tapes inside, and took it to each room, as it was packed up. This way, all of the different rolls stayed with the gun in one place, and allowed for the use of the "Fragile" or "Un-Pack First" Tape when needed - just be careful when taking it off of the tape gun to curl over the edge, so it does not stick to itself, you'll have a hard time getting it unrolled/started again.The idea is GREAT,,,the product,,,not so much,,,here's why:*The tape is THIN and sticks to itself, so be careful when trying to unstick it from the roll.*The tape does not come with rooms like the Garage, Tool Shed or Attic (I used the tape from a bedroom for this, and marked them in my book according to the color)*DO NOT DEPEND ON THIS TAPE TO CLOSE YOUR BOXES!!! There simply is not enough tape! We used clear plastic tape to secure the boxes and then used one strip of the color coded tape, over the top and edges to place an identifying mark for deciphering each box.Another good idea is to hang a big marker around your neck while packing to mark each box with the contents of the box - you'll still want to know what you put in the box even though the room is marked with the tape.All in all, I think that it is a great idea, and easier to use than the stickers for each room, because you can see the tape from the top and sides of the boxes, (with the lables, you need to put more than one on each box and run out quick, plus the tape is a quick application with a tape gun)

Aside from the red and orange tapes being pretty close in color (which isn't really that big of a problem considering we're moving to a 3 bedroom house instead of 4), this is a pretty neat thing to have. It'll help our buddies out in getting stuff in the house and in the right rooms faster than "Hey, where do you want this box at?" "Well, what's it say is in it?" ... You can probably imagine the conversations that come up from there, especially if that someone who packed the box forgot to write what is in the box.The tape is pretty thin. Not that weak, but not strong enough to keep the heavier boxes shut. Regardless, for what it's worth, I don't mind taping up everything with regular packing tape and then using these strips of color along the sides. What isn't pictured (but also included in the set) is a roll of "Fragile" and a roll of "Open First" labels, making it especially useful for when you get everything moved in and really need to find that toilet paper.I mentioned before that the tape is thin. Each roll looks like it won't have enough for all the moving boxes you have, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have enough of this tape for two or possibly even three more moves.

Great way to reduce the chaos of moving. We seem to move every other year, and we've reused a lot of our boxes. The labels made it easy to differentiate from previous writing on the boxes. I also found it faster to use the tape roll in a tape dispenser than to have to write a label on each box. From a top view of a box, I ran the tape diagonally across a corner of each box, so I could see the color/label from three sides of the box in order to conserve the use of the labeling tape. I didn't use it to seal the box because the tape is not heavy duty packing quality, and I would not have had enough tape for all my boxes with this kit anyway. I gave 4 starts because it would have been nice to seal and label at the same time, but it wasn't that big of an issue. It still provided a great way of quickly labeling boxes, which was my biggest concern.

On move in, when these are on all the boxes, it's easy to see a mover with a hand truck full of stuff and direct them to the right room so much easier. Otherwise, you're stopping to read, rather than just seeing a colour. And, there are bathrooms with similar colors to the bedroom, so blue bathroom, goes with blue bedroom, so it's easy to send them to the master suite, for example. You can also spot when the movers snuck in a green bedroom box in to the blue bedroom, and move it. If you've got teenagers, they may try and ignore there boxes as long as they can, but you can more easily pick out that one of your boxes is in their room. having the markers is a plus, as you can never have too many markers when packing.

OK, let me give you the most precise review you will get about this product!! I did not buy this tape to seal boxes, it does NOT do that, it color coordinates and delineates what rooms the boxes or bags belongs in. Why not color code it yourself?? Because movers dont look at the stickers you color code the boxes with unless you stick a million stickers on ALL sides of the box, top and 4 sides and plenty of them, what a waste of valuable time! Then you would have to color code the house you are moving into, another PIA. This does it all, you tape across the whole top of the box and it tells you exactly where to go with it. People are saying they cant seal the box with it, no kidding, it is not sealing tape for a box with items in it, it is used for labeling folks .I love this product, it definitely makes it obvious where everything belongs, it even has fragile tape which is great for those precious items, and they have "open first" tape, this would be for your sheets, blanket, pillow, toothbrushes, pet food, meds etc. that you would need immediately when you move in, to be opened so you can be comfortable with all the accoutrements you are used to. Great stuff!

This tape is working really great! I wish there was a basement tape though instead of fragile as fragile tape can be easily found anywhere.
