Perfect kitchen knife
I love a smaller, more versatile knife and this fits the bill. Very sharp and easy to hold for my tiny hands. Plus it's so affordable! I run it through the dishwasher and it's been fine. Needs to be sharpened more often but for the price I'll just buy another when it gets destroyed.

The knife cut through a phone case, the only problem is that the blade is a bit thin
When I first got this knife I wasn’t really a fan. The Good Cook Knife’s blade is a bit thin, unlike the J.A Heckles knife I was trying to replace. However, I found that this knife does a superb job when it comes to making thin vegetable slices. It cuts through small cherry tomatoes without squishing them. It’s super fast in chopping bell peppers because the blade is ridiculously sharp. The serrated edges makes it so that there is a nice grip when cutting lemons and limes. It also easily slits through chicken breasts.A family member had trouble getting off a ridiculously tough phone case. The case was made out of some type of strong rubber. So, he decided to cut through the phone case using only this knife. He succeed. The knife did not break or dull. It just did the job.The only thing I would not recommend cutting this knife with is strong vegetables such as cucumbers, melons and other stuff. I have a feeling the blade might break, but since the knife could cut through a phone case I’m sure I could be wrong.**I should mention we use this knife everyday when we’re cooking. In our family we don’t like Chef’s knife because their bulky, heavy, and dull easily. Serrated knifes are an alternative to the chefs knife and the stay sharp for longer. For the price and quality I highly recommend this knife.

Don't buy unless you can sharpen!
I picked this up at a thrift store, took it home and sharpened it. It's razor sharp. But it won't stay that way and will need regular sharpening. It's a decent piece of steel. Fit & finish are a bit crude but for the price it's a very good deal.If you can't sharpen your knives, and most can't, don't buy this or other straight edged knives. The edge will wear and knife will perform poorly. A more expensive knife will hold an edge longer but it will need sharpened. If that's not your thing, stick with serrated knives. They never cut as well as a sharp blade but they always cut even when the edges are fairly dull. A good bread knife will do a lot of work. Try it on a tomato.

EXCELLENT KNIFE FOR THE PRICE AND CUTS WELL
The last good cook knife I bought like this finally broke after over 10 years. The one I had before lasted also at least 10 years and it was the same knife and same brand. I hope this one will last as long. I bought a couple of other imitation knives that were cheaper at Walmart. The blades of those cheaper ones were so dull that even with extensive sharpening by machine and sharpening stone, they were pretty useless and couldn't cut. it really has to do with the very thickness and tapering of the blade towards the edge. These knives by good cook are fashioned in such a way that they cut well and the blade can be sharpened even more. But right out of the package they are sharp enough.Don't waste your time on cheaper no name knives that might look the same but are pretty useless. If you have to struggle to cut up your food and put a lot of muscle in it you're wasting your time. This good cook knife works excellently for me considering the price as well. I've tried more expensive knives the kind that come in a upright knife holding box, you know, the expensive sets. Some have been pretty lousy for a big price. But this worked fine for me and I hope it lasts me another 10 years.

Best overall kitchen knife shape, but quality has changed.
We have one of these from years ago.. it finally broke, so I ordered this one to replace it. Unfortunately the metal used for the blade is not the same. The old one was made in Taiwan. That blade is heavier, more dense, holds a good sharp edge. This one is make in China and feels more like a dollar store knife. It's sad because a knife with this size & shape is hard to find.
