These tools can't beat for all pottery work trimming, shaping and footing. Stay sharp a very long time

The ‘rubber handle’ is just a grippy coating that peels off quite easily but I work in a communal studio so I have to tape up and label my tools anyway so that’s not a big deal. Some of them work for chattering but not super well so I mainly use them to trim leather hard clay or to get the skirt off of a wet pot. Fabulous quality for the money!

If you buy these tools, be aware that they will need sharpening. They are not as easy to sharpen as carbon steel. But they are not expensive and might be perfect for the person who is willing to sharpen them.I don’t understand why reviewers are asked to rate these tools for their versatility. It’s not like I’m going to cook with them or hang pictures with them. So they get no stars for versatility, but that is not a reflection of what I think of these pottery trimming tools.

I bought these for chattering clay, but they are too short and too stiff to work for that. They do work well for trimming the bottom of clay pot before taking it off the wheel.

These tools are high quality and so versatile. So why 3 stars? They are specifically made for right handed people so I can only actually use about half of them. Half the tools = half the stars. But if you are right handed, get these for sure!!

Some of the edges weren't sharpened and burrs on some of the points and edges.

I am a potter and used the tools to trim pots right after throwing and the final trimming of the bottoms. They were sharp and worked very well.
