I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description, I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. installing on kenmore fridge model 106.73842302 required minor modification
The holes for the two mounting screws on the timer that I took out were larger, so in order to fit this new timer (for the screws to fit) I had to enlarge the holes. Easy enough to do if you have a drill and bits. Unit is in and I hear it running, guess time will tell if it solves the freezer icing-up issue-- stay tuned to see if I bump this up to 5stars-- a month later, no return of iceberg in freezer. RTR FTW.

Works as needed but NOISY. Open the door and you hear the gears whirring
It operates as designed and for over a year the noise has not gotten worse, so if you don't mind a little whirring noise when the door is open, you can save yourself some money. Durability is yet to be known, the original lasted over 20 years, doubt this one will, but it just may outlive the refridgerator

After 30days test device is working
DIY easy to install. Symptoms freezer cold fridge warm. In the freezer is a coil where air moves across to cool both the freezer and refrigerator areas. I removed the panel in the freezer the coils were covered in ice. The is a heating element called a defroster that is turned on by this device a timer. The old timer would get stuck just before clicking in the defroster. Easy to install however be sure to unplug the power from the refrigerator before disassembling. Peace take care.
