Wonderful smooth rollerball!
I bought this pen being cautiously optimistic, after reading many positive reviews online. I was afraid that this pen would be heavy. It is not at all the case! This pen is metal, but it is well balanced and does not feel heavy at all. I prefer slim pens like Cross Click; however, Retro Tornado doesn't feel bulky at all because of its tapered design. It you are familiar with Cross Edge, Retro Tornado is similar weight. I can honestly say that it writes as smooth as any Cross rollerball. Refill is a medium width (0.7mm or maybe a tad thicker, closer to 0.8mm), but you can purchase Schmidt refills in 0.6mm if you prefer finer line. Other manufacturers' refills work too (look it up on Jetpens.com, they have a list of compatible refills). Pen arrives with black ink. I bought blue Tornado refills from iPenstore (refill number is REF57P-B for blue or REF5P for black) and they work great! Retro 51 Tornado has a twist mechanism: refill pops out if you twists the top of the pen. Packaging is very fun: it comes in a cardboard tube, padded on the inside and pen is standing up inside the tube.Overall, I give this pen 5 stars:-Body: sturdy, but not heavy. Comfortable to hold and not slippery.-Writing: rollerball medium width, about 0.7mm or 0.8mm, writes very smoothly, compatible with other manufacturers' refills. Comes with black ink, but blue is available for purchase separately.

Solid & stylish pen
I like this pen a lot, although it's not my perfect writing instrument. It's a good 'statement' pen that doesn't cost too much, and it's fun to use for short journal entries. The pros that make it worthwhile:The body color is great, I've had the pen for months and I still like to look at it before I write. Lacquer coating feels pretty good as well.Very smooth writing across most angles, so it's enjoyable to use as well as look at.Why I didn't give it 5 stars falls into personal preference:The .7mm point is wider than I like. I prefer .38 and .5mm points. The twist top action is a neat difference vs click or cap pens, but I like it less than those because I fiddle with my pen. For me the action is just too stiff to be practical one-handed, maybe it's just my particular pen.The clip can be a minor irritation when I start writing.

Faulty. Stripping that screws on cap
In changing the ink refill, the inside stripping came detached and now I’m in able to screw on cap. Thereby unable to use pen.And it’s probably to late to return.

GREAT Rollerball!
I like these rollerballs so much that I think I now have all the colors/designs they come in. Very smooth, easy to hold, and no-skip lines/letters. Get one: you won't regret it!!!

This is my green pen for fancy signatures, hand-written cards and notes. The pen is lovely, the ink is lovely, the little storage cylinder is fun. My whole household each have their own of these pens for any fancy writing we need to do.Also, the same manufacturer who makes the original ink cartridge for Retro 1951 (Schmidt) also makes that ink cartridge in green (and other colors):https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0102RE8QM(note, you will want the "P8126 Short", not the "8126 Long")

smooth operator
Great quality & smooth writing. This is by far my most used and favorite pen! I love the design, the many colors you have to choose from and that you can change the ink very easily & go from a rollerball to a ball point refill. It comes with a rollerball in black ink & I prefer blue. It is a sturdy & professional pen that everyone notices. I think my next color will be purple or maybe a fun card design like the Queen of Spades / Hearts. If you need refills go to passion for pens. They are here on Amazon & provide outstanding service!! Happy writing.
