Game Salute Legends of The American Frontier

There are some negative reviews out there, which focus on the game's length (2-3 hours) and how luck-based it is (very). Those are both correct. Still, I love this game in the right doses. I think it tells a fantastic story, as your characters go on crazy adventures and suffer wild swings of fortune. It requires a bit of storytelling to bridge the cards, but I find that easy and pleasurable. This game is *not* for tournament play, bear that in mind. You don't have a huge amount of control over whether you win an encounter most of the time. Really meaningful and difficult decisions are not common. This game is first and last about the story. This is one of those games where you try to win to propel the narrative along, not because winning is particularly important. It's akin to Tales of the Arabian Nights, but with more interaction but less coherent of a story.The time factor is what really gets the star gone from me. Setting it up and taking it down is a hassle, and it's going to be the game of the night.I wouldn't want to play this all the time, and I have loads of friends who would hate this game to pieces. Luckily, there's a fairly robust "AI" out there to handle empty seats, so you can play solitaire if you want. Since I don't care about "winning" but just the narrative, that's fine with me if I feel the itch.
