Good Hing, poor container.
The Hing is good quality. I was pleased to find this one that is gluten free and not cut with wheat like most Hing. I didn’t like the jar, it has a lid that you have to puncture to open and then the opening is not even. Since it was hard to use that way I transferred it to my own spice tin (which I then store in a mason jar to prevent smell transfer).

It does not have a deep yellow color, so you need to use more turmeric.

When I found this product last year, I think ingredients weren't listed. But it was advertised as gluten-free. I love asafoetida (aka hing) both for its flavor and its soothing effects on stomach and digestion, since I have trouble digesting grains, among other things. I bought three jars. Can't use them because of the rice. Causes burping; pure hing would not. I'm not surprised to find a reviewer here say that their test showed this product contains gluten.

Terrible smell and taste
Smells aweful. The smell gets to everything in the cupboard. made the kitchary taste sour. Food went bad within minutes.

We found Gluten in it
Our test of this product shows that the product contains wheat (probably as contaminant). This product is not certified GF. I would like to urge the manufacturer to confirm if this product is truly gluten free. My effort here is to urge Deep Foods to improve quality of the product (including strict requirements from its suppliers).
