Q: How does this product control parasites?

What kind of parasites? Can you be specefic? Most of the larger holes will e filled with mason bees which are early native polonators. These are not bees. They eat nectar and pollen. Honey bees as you know are not native, they come out later in the year, often after the fruit trees in the pacific NW have finished blooming. Hence the need for mason bees.

Q: Has anyone had ladybugs stay?

None that I have seen yet. The 'residents' are primarily small wasps, native (not honey) bees, and similar insects.

Q: Where should this be placed? Up high, against a flush surface, directly in the garden plants, sun or shade? Thanks!

It should be set up in a sheltered spot away from the prevailing wind.Solitary bees prefer a sunny spot in direct sunlight, most other insects like it best when it's slightly damp.If you have a large flower bed, pond or hedge where there is already an abundance of wildlife you will find your hotel will fill up more quickly if sited near to these population centres.

Q: Have you noticed any bees or butterflies moving in? Hoe long did it take? Or are they more seasonal?

I purchased this in the fall and haven't had a spring time yet but hoping the spring will bring bees n butterflies
