St James of London Sea Moss & Salt ParfumWhen I chose this item to review, I wasn't sure what to expect...really, Sea Moss & Salt...what does moss smell like & why combine it with salt? I was curious. Being in the USA, I never heard of St. James of London either, but learned they were established in 1953. They've been around a while.After reading the product description, I decided to take a chance. I couldn't wait for it to arrive. I was excited...sea moss, really!?I am terrible at trying to explain a fragrance. You know, no one ever sat me down & said, "This is what bergamot, beach blossom breeze, etc. smells like." I know what grapefruit smells like.I lightly sprayed some on my arm, took a whiff, sprayed some more, took another whiff & thought this smells very good. It smells clean & fresh. I took a look at the box which described the scent as Clean & Crisp. I was close.Of course, everyone likes different scents. Scents also react to your body chemistry, what smells good on me, might not on you. All I can say is that I really like this scent. It smells clean & fresh to me.Product Description: Bergamot, grapefruit and beach blossom breeze over soft marine-splashed greens paired with lively notes of fresh sea salt blown over warm tree moss and the woody earthiness of aromatic herbs. I liked the way the fragrance was not to overpowering but I would have liked a little more seafaring scents.

Very little fragrance.

Crisp. Does evoke a vision of a breezy ocean, lined by lots of foliage. A little soft to be totally masculine. Somewhat sophisticated. Smells like dining on a rooftop or patio in the cool evening.

According to the back of the box, "a distinguishing attribute of St. James of London is our unique ability to blend traditional, masculine notes to create fragrances suitable for both men and women." With this particular scent, I was immediately struck with how masculine it smelled to me.I did not read this sentence before deciding to order this scent. I was drawn to the promise of bergamot, grapefruit and beach blossom. I love citrusy scents and beach blossom just conjures the beach, sea spray, sand... But I cannot detect any citrus notes in this perfume. All I can detect is bergamot. Perhaps the grapefruit emerges after the top and middles notes have dissipated. I would not know because within minutes of spraying this on my wrist, I had to wash it off repeatedly, and even then I could still catch a faint whiff of it. I can also detect a powdery essence which gives me a strong grandmotherly vibe.

So one of the things that this company likes to talk about is that its fragrances can be worn by men or women. I have gotten 2 other fragrances from them and this one probably comes the closest to any of them to being something that a guy would wear. The scent is something along the lines of a beachy vibe about it. Guess that is the sea moss. It is not nearly as floral as the other scents. I can detect the citrus smell in this. I don't think this scent is really for me, but I'm sure that there are some guys, and maybe women, out there would like it.

This is a bit too light in scent and doesn't last as long as the other scents offered by this brand. It's got a fresh seabreeze aroma with a cool crisp smell. Wish this was available as a candle too.
