Replacement Barrel Compatible with Montblanc 164 Ballpoint (Black & Silver)

This is an extremely fine product delivered rapidly in excellent protective packaging. It has beautifully restored my treasured burgundy colored Montblanc ballpoint pen to its original superb appearance, balance, feel and writing performance. It was extremely easy to fit to the cap and the mechanism advances and retracts the refill as perfectly as it did originally. Burgundy is a rare color for this product and replacements are very difficult to find, yet the color of the barrel and tip of this replacement matches the cap perfectly. I congratulate the supplier highly on the quality of the item and the manner of safe delivery. The price is reasonable for such speed efficiency and quality. It does not trouble me at all that the gold tip is fixed to the resin barrel, because detachment of the tip is entirely irrelevant to the function, feel and appearance of the pen. A big thank you to Amazon and to the supplier (Ultimate Pen Polish) for enabling me to use this fine writing instrument again after many years.

I have had two Montblanc 164 ballpoint pens one black and one maroon. Both had a split barrel after a few years. My feeling is that since the threading on the barrel is directly in the plastic (they call resin), the threading in the cap looks like brass and the mechanism involves turning the cap in the threading I think that it is inevitable that the weakest link will crack. This replacement for the red one is indistinguishable from the original (except no crack) and works at least as well. I had forgotten how smooth the mechanism was. This part should be cheaper and supplied by Montblanc at a reasonable price. Montblanc asks quite a bit more than the $65 I paid for this replacement. Even $65 is too much.

The barrel cracked on my Montblanc pen, a favorite gift of mine from my wife, and I didn't use it for years due to the cost of replacing it. This replacement fits perfectly, and I can't tell the difference in finish from the original.

Works exactly as described. Took it from the box, off with the old, on with the new, and it looks like the day I bought it. Fit and color/style match are exact. The "repair" took about 10 seconds. I can't speak to long-term durability yet, but I see this as an ideal alternative to high cost and long turnaround of factory service. Very pleased and no issues whatsoever.I still think it's a little overpriced for what it is, so that cost a star. Better than the alternative, but still quite a bit given no information on actual materials or whether it's a genuine replacement part. Honestly, I don't care. I'm back to writing with my favorite pen and it no longer has a cracked barrel. I'm calling it a win.UPDATE due to more recent experience...After using the pen for less than a day, I noticed that the how in the end of the barrel is smaller than the original. This causes the refill to stop extending earlier, making the writing experience feel "snuffed." I contacted the seller, who was super nice and responded quickly that he would hand-select me a new one when his inventory arrived and send it my way.That was August 13th, and nothing arrived. Subsequent notes to the seller were responded to with "we're so sorry, it's been crazy here," "didn't you get our email asking for your address" (which was in the same email thread), "I sent it out the day we had that last email exchange," and "I can't believe you didn't get it but have sent another via tracked priority." At this point, Oct. 26th, NO replacement product has been delivered, and my last two notes requesting the tracking number of the priority shipment were met with no response. At this point, I'm calling it a fly-by-night operation that was out to make a quick buck and move on.Buyer beware. Would absolutely not recommend.

I received the lower part to replace the original that was badly broken after 25 yrs of service. Firts, very impressed with the package, very well protected.Colorwise, the black plastic looks almost identical, deep and intense. The golden tip is lighter than the original also and, it looks coarse compared with the original. But at the end once replaced it looks very similarThe feeling while writing is back to my senses.I gave 4 starts because the price... I considered a bit pricy. But what the heck! I have my Mont Blanc back. ;)
