Perfect for my daughter who has CP with a tonic bite. This tool helps me to get in her mouth and brush her back teeth.

Perfect for special needs kids
Love, Love, Love. These were recommended to me by my special need's daughter's dentist. She holds her lips very tight around her teeth when I try to brush and so she was developing orange yucky buildup along her gum line. Since she wasn't letting me brush good, I would have to enlist help from my husband to hold her down once a week and use the scraper to remove the build up. This was painful for all 3 of us, emotionally for her and physically as well for us as she would fight us off and occasionally one of us would get kicked in the throat or bit. Now with this I am able to prop her mouth open and it forces her lips to relax and she can't hold them tight over her teeth. Bonus, it also keeps her tongue out of the way because instead of pushing the toothbrush out of her mouth, her tongue is working to try to push the mouth rest out. I would recommend to anyone trying this to only put half as much toothpaste on the brush at first, brush one side of the mouth, take the prop out and let her spit, move prop to other side of mouth and put the other half of toothpaste on the brush and clean that side of the mouth. Because there really is no way to get a full glob of toothpaste to the other side of the mouth when you have this prop in. Amazon was out of the regular thickness when I ordered these so I can't speak to how they compare but this seems to be a good size for my 9 year old. She is a little bit of a runt for her age and the prop just fits without being uncomfortable, so I wouldn't recommend this for any kids younger than say 6-7 years. I have used this about 10 times and there are just minor teeth marks in it, with her mouth being on the smaller side she isn't able to bite down when it is in place, but she does try to gnaw on it sideways before I get it in place if I don't move quick. All in all, I'm very pleased with this product and I think the 4 I ordered should last me a while. I rinse it with mouthwash when I'm done but I'll probably throw it out and start a new one after a month.

Helpful
These are very helpful when cleaning the teeth of my son with disabilities. He doesn't like them, but they are necessary when he decides he doesn't want his teeth brushed. They are well cushioned and do not cause any trauma to the mouth and although he usually likes getting his teeth brushed, they are great help when he is having an attitude. I even take one to the dentist's office with me so they can get a good look at his teeth and mouth.

Not for the uncontrolled strong bite
Our daughter, who is unable to control her chewing, crushed the mouth rest immediately.

Perfect for working inside the handicapped mouth
We need these to perform oral hygiene chores on my handicapped sister. I had been using the regular thickness version of this product. I find this thick one a much better choice. She can't chew these and bend the tip. Much sturdier.

Helpful!
Love it! Use it on my son who has multiple disabilities. Yes, he bites hard on it, but can use multiple times before discarding. Dentist comments on how great his teeth looks everytime I take him in.
