Montblanc Starwalker Ballpoint Pen 109363

I bought this pen as a complement to my fountain and rollerball pens as I wanted something that was easier to use and did not have a cap to lose. This pen, in particular, is probably one of the most stylized of the Starwalker line, and has just the right complement of carbon fiber, black, and polished chrome to balance out sporty with classy. It is expensive for a ballpoint, but I try to rationalize it by the fact that the carbon fiber won't shatter like the standard MB resin pens, so this one should last me awhile. And plus, the barrel has that cool patterned reflection you get from all those tiny strands braided together.The overall weight is lighter than the MB resin pens, and is far heavier on the tip than the body. The feel is different from other MB pens, and is very conducive to effortless writing, where the weight of the pen is enough to depress the ballpoint, allowing you to write without applying any additional pressure.All seams are nicely filled in, etching is top quality, clip is single piece machined rather than stamped. Twist mechanism is heavy and reassuring. I couldn't have asked for a better pen :) The next step will be to replace the refill with one of the Monteverde Gel replacements that aren't as liquidy as water-based ink, but still glides.
